Tokimeki Memorial ~ Only Love: Episode 14

Rating: 6.5/10

Impressions:

I had hopes for Yukari, due to her playfulness and energy (since Tsukasa sort of fails…), though it turns out she’s not here to stay. I guess I’m more interested in seeing some interesting developments at the moment, since both Sayuri, Mina and Riku are hideously boring. Riku’s boringness is especially bad since he’s the main character and everything depends on how he takes life. Can’t he do something fun and entertaining once in a while? I can’t say I’m very impressed with the show right now—a single season would have been enough for Tokimeki Memorial’s minimal amount of relationship development. Sigh~

Tokimeki Memorial ~ Only Love: Episode 13

Rating: 7/10

Impressions:

Lol what’s with people and their secret hiding places? They’re usually either both amazingly remote and undetectable or obviously not secret at all. The latter describes Sayuri’s ’secret hiding place’, which amuses me since Riku takes it so seriously. Anyway, this is the episode where Sayuri snaps and tells everyone to shut up, which I guess must be quite significant and ends up getting Riku closer to her. I personally don’t like Sayuri at all so I’m not too keen to see this happen, while Tsukasa constantly gets rejected by Riku. Although I don’t like Tsukasa that much, I find her more amusing than Sayuri at least.

Tokimeki Memorial ~ Only Love: Episode 12

Rating: 8/10

Impressions:
This is a serious WTF episode, yet somehow funny as well. Wow, they included a goddess now? And not a babe-goddess, but a real, spiritual goddess…and that really only adds to this show’s randomness, which may or may not be a good thing. Ah…and how far behind in Ryoumi with this series? God, subbers should drop a few series if they’re so behind on their other projects. This show is like already up to episode 19, which is practically two months ahead…sigh. I hope the next episode will have a little more meaning…At least this episode presents Tsukasa and Mina together, though nothing happens between the two which is really a shame.

Tokimeki Memorial ~ Only Love: Episode 11

Rating: 8.6/10

Impressions:

It’s been almost three weeks since the last time I blogged an episode of this show, and I have practically forgotten about it. Maybe it’s because of that when I say I like this episode quite a bit over the past few, or it could just be genuinely better. I have been easily converted to a Mina fan now, as her real personality truly begins to show this episode. She’s very different to the stereotype of shy and reserved that had been attributed to her (by me lol), with her courage to talk to the guys she likes, as well as being pretty outspoken as well. Not to mention she is actually pretty cute this episode (the quality has been pretty high lately).

Tokimeki Memorial ~ Only Love: Episode 10

Rating: 8.3/10

Impressions:

Heh, I actually liked this episode a fair bit! And just when I thought Tokimeki was running dry of ideas…Well, the main reason is because this episode is an awesome tribute to my favourite character, the canteen-girl! Who unfortunately never opens her eyes…And too bad she doesn’t get as much air time as I had hoped. I really wanted it to be based on her, but it ended up being completely about Aoba again…Another redeeming thing is that this episode is actually fairly funny. Aoba’s friends going down one after the other is rather predictable, but humorous nonetheless. The one thing I hate about this show is the attempted Aoba and girl interaction. Why does it have to get serious? Can’t it just stay all comedy and slapstick until sometime near the end like a normal harem? They just HAD to include that sappy moment at the end of the episode…and I don’t even like Sayuri…Oh well, Tokimeki is Tokimeki; no helping that. Heh…this anime makes me want to watch Shuffle as I know it’s far better…Either that or re-read Negima!

Tokimeki Memorial ~ Only Love: Episode 9

Rating: 8/10

I’m actually rather bored with this series to be honest, and I doubt that’s gonna change. The main problem I just realised is that I really don’t like any of the characters, except Inukai, the yakuza chick and the canteen girl. And yeah, none of them are major characters. This episode is a fanservice-y beach episode featuring Tsukasa and her date-gone-wrong with Riku. I swear, Riku is retarded. Can he not forget about Amamiya for one minute? Why is he so stupid as to staring at Amamiya in such a way when he’s right in front of the girl who’s meant to be his girlfriend? And he’s a it thickheaded too during the last scene. Obviously Tsukasa wanted a goodnight kiss, but he doesn’t see through her. Oh well. I guess this is what they call harem lol. Hmm, now that Tsukasa has had another episode with Riku, who will be next? There’ll probably be some more cycles of character-centric episodes, before the three girls al meet up together formally. That’s when things will really start, I hope.

Tokimeki Memorial ~ Only Love: Episode 8

Rating: 8.2/10

Impressions:

A rather drama filled episode, compared to the rest of the series that is. In general, the level of drama would be considered pretty lame. The recent Gift episodes a doing a great job of drama, but then again, that show is nearly over, so the fact that Tokimeki has integrated some drama over comedy (which it is severely lacking) is quite a change in itself. I’m glad about what took place, as it as neatly provided adequate time for some serious relational development. The next episode, the ‘beach’ episode, seems to focus on Riku and Tsukasa, will probably also have them run into their school friends. Hopefully this means the three girls will actually be introduced this time. Tsukasa has seen both Sayuri and Mina, though hasn’t engaged in a proper conversation yet. It looks like this anime is taking things slowly, with still two thirds of the show left. However, the show really needs to return to the comedy side soon. IF the writers can think of some GOOD jokes that is, which I doubt, as Tokimeki has never really been funny in the first place.

Tokimeki Memorial ~ Only Love: Episode 7

Rating: 8/10

Impressions:

Hooray things are getting interesting now, since it seems that the girls in Riku’s harem are getting closer to confronting each other. There’s also quite a bit of drama in this episode, as Riku basically ruins his relationship (almost) with Sayuri and Tsukasa. This episode sort of redeemed my preference of Tsukasa, since she isn’t so annoying and honestly likes Riku. Sayuri is really thick headed though; as if you’d think that much about a confession that is obviously an accident. Actually no, I take that back, this IS a harem anime. I’m still surprised that this series is 26 episodes. I’m pretty sure I realised that last episode, though I forget things easily. :-P Like how I started watching episode 8 and didn’t realise I had skipped an ep until a minute in after the OP. But this way there will be plenty more chances for some shoujo-like love-related trouble, though I doubt it will ever get to real shoujo level. But this also means there will be useless about-nothing episodes, and that’s a bummer. But anyway, I’m still waiting for some more harem-like episodes.
