And I wonder what it means if she’s actually the Black Rose Baron (I kinda guessed it was a girl from the voice by now though…) Oh, Motsu and Shichimi remain as hilarious as ever—I’m extremely glad that they’re actually in the show. Those two random animals suit such a random show perfectly. Now Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei needs something like that as well…

Comedy-wise, this episode once again utilises many random jokes for the kind of ‘WTF?!LOL’ humour. I don’t think there will be any distinct plot any time soon, with the majority of the episodes being episodic like this one. This episode focuses on the relationship between Ayaka and Asuna, which I found pretty nice. I’m not sure if there’s a similar episode, though I do remember Ayaka’s birthday or something in the manga, and that too gives you a pretty good feeling. Then again, Negima!? isn’t something you take seriously.

Compared to the last episode, this one is not nearly as impressive in terms of content, story progression and comedy. The quality isn’t as high either, though overall it’s still an enjoyable watch. It amuses me to hear how the girls have realised there are no other students around, when the anime never showed any other students in the first place. I have to say the students in Negi’s class are all highly abnormal, but this is excellent for the humour’s sake. It’s nice to see that everyone places a lot of faith in Negi now, as they are relieved when he promises them that they will escape the magic world.

It’s pretty interesting to see the kinds of things the students get up to in this new world. They’re practically getting ready to start a new life, though apart from that nothing has changed. Makie’s D= face when she hears Ayaka call her a failure of a human, as well as the appearances of Motsu and Shichimi are equally my favourite parts of the episode. Sayo ‘possessing’ the pillar and Negi reaching into her ‘crack’ is insanely hilarious (and disturbing as well o_o). But I guess Negi wouldn’t understand…(and apparently no one else had any strange thoughts either). xD

It was also quite disturbing though, to see a class of girls kiss the furry rodent that was Negi. This episode overall is quite light-hearted and eventful, with the usual dosage of comedy. The only thing this show is lacking now is some good action, as displayed in the Negima manga, though I doubt Negima!? is going to turn into an action shounen at all. Oh and we’re not out of the woods yet. At the end of the episode, Negi and company find themselves in yet another problematic situation!

Well, plot-wise the episode didn’t go anywhere, but it is full of action and comedy, which more than makes up for it. I don’t think it’s as funny as the last episode, but it’s a lot more exciting. And I’m wondering when Negi is going to return back to normal. He can’t stay a Chupacabra for long as he needs to be in his mage form to initiate the provisional contracts with everyone. And when that happens, hopefully we will get to see their powers! What I hope doesn’t happen is Negi wiping everyone’s memories to regain his magic certificate. That would be a good waste of a few episodes with everyone knowing about everything, though I suspect that is how it will be.

The quality fluctuated quite a bit this episode, from Negima standard good to rather deformed characters near the end. Negi must’ve been easy to animate though. His Chupacabra form is incredibly ridiculous, and it’s a joy to watch him bounce around in all its randomness. I think I’ve said this before, but I am fine with him turning into an animal and having everyone find out about his magic, as I highly doubt the producers are going to stuff this show up after coming this far. And it’s not like the show is going to end with Negi staying as a Chupacabra. His recent demise is just all part of the bigger scheme!

Once again I am astounded by the creativity of the writers of this show to come up with such hilarious situations. I love the two animals (Motsu and something). I love Yue. I love how Yue runs away from Negi then comes running back and smooches him. I also love how Negi is turned into an animal and everyone is imprisoned. I’m extremely glad this show is nothing like the manga, as otherwise it would be pretty boring, and would have end awkwardly, being a 26 episode series. I would love an anime that follows the Negima! manga closely too, and perhaps it will rise to Bleach and Naruto popularity. Almost.

Anyway, yes, this episode is the best so far. I’ve never laughed harder than this while watching Negima!? The even that takes place here is, I think, a combination of a few chapters from the school festival arc in the manga, where essentially the same thing with regards to Yue and her resistance to kissing Negi, only far more complicated and lasts a lot longer. This is just one of the reasons this is my favourite episode. As I have mentioned before, Yue and Konoka are my favourite characters. Being a Yue-centric episode with a little Konoka and Setsuna excerpt made my day.

Yue’s kiss made me all giddy inside. Usually, when the male lead of a harem gets a kiss of one of his girls, people would be rooting for the guy right? Or am I wrong? Well, Negi, being a little brat who has never liked anyone and has yet to undergo puberty, gives no satisfaction whenever he gets a kiss. But with Yue, this is a different story. I’ve always been rooting for Yue in her quest for love since when she confesses in the manga, so seeing her get a kiss from Negi gives the satisfaction Negi is supposed to give…I guess. Oh and Konoka’s kiss joke is super cute! God I’m fanboying too much.

Well anyway, while I’m on the subject of kissing, which in the anime represents forming provisional contracts with Negi, I have to add that I was highly surprised when everyone in Negi’s class (was it everyone?) finds out about Negi and magic. However, the unexpected scene made everything far more enjoyable now, and I desperately want to see the next episode now, though unfortunately it’s at 46% downloaded and going pretty slow. There are heaps of questions now concerning Negi’s and his classes immediate future, but I’m guessing they will somehow gain credit from doing something special, which will set everyone free and return Negi to a human again!

The thing I really love about Negima! the manga are the emotional issues the girls deal with. It’s touching and all, but the real great thing about this is that it is insanely hilarious to see everyone going for Negi, who has probably never liked anyone anyway. They’re already starting to get into that, and it seems the focus has shifted to Yue, my other favourite character (with Konoka). The episode continues with its random hilarity, which I am largely grateful for. The appearances of the Baron has also become ridiculously abrupt and in a joking way. Asuna’s chupacbra crusades are awesome as always, and the general airhead-ness of the girls in Negi’s class create a nice atmosphere to laugh in. I’m still concerned about how Negi’s class seems to be the only class in the school. It’s just too quiet and open sometimes. As long as the show doesn’t focus on one group of girls the whole time, it should be fine. The last moment of this episode is a nice cliff hanger, though I don’t think I will be seeing the next episode today.

But this is still bad news, as now they’ve released 4 consecutive episodes in a day, which means I have 4 more entries I need to run through…Well anyway, Negima!? 10 continues on with the mystery of the Black Rose Baron, though does not cease with the hilarious jokes and unique cinematography (sliding cells to show multiple people). Although I feel the quality has not been up to par lately, the short skits are brilliantly hilarious as always, even the subtle humour such as Yue drinking a juice box called ‘Death Juice’. Apart from the humour, what excited me also was the moment when the twins and Kaede initiate their powers from their contracts with Negi. Kaede’s power seems to be the ability to transform into anything she desires, though the twins’ powers are still unknown. It’s also quite nice to see Negima!? diverging from the manga so much, such as making the twins make contracts with Negi. This way nothing is boring or expected.

Firstly in other news, I have decided to read the Negima! manga and am currently up to volume 5. I will definitely have caught up to the latest chapter by the next episode. Now I just wish there was a proper anime adaptation that follows the manga like a typical action shounen, or at least a proper series that doesn’t stray from the original storyline. Negima!? is an exception though, since it obviously isn’t following the original storyline. Still though, it is amazingly fun to watch. I am still in love with Konoka, and reading the manga has made it even stronger. The only downside to Negima!? is that there is like no character development at all. That’s ok though, as this remake never had that intention in the first place, and is doing a whole bunch of other random stuff to make up for it. For example, the random shots of Ayaka’s hot body, or Evangeline and Chachamaru having tea with the two animal guys. Or that dormitory exploding, which looked very much like a real life model. Not as funny as some of the other episodes, but I still got a few good laughs from it.

Hmm, Kaede’s Negi’s partner now…Too bad we didn’t get to see her powers, or the twins’ powers either. Actually, what I want to see more is Negi’s partners all getting the suka cards at the same time. That would be a nice skit. But anyway, the plot is advancing, even though only progressing very little. The Black Rose Baron appears again, and his/her gender is still quite unclear…to me, that is. And I wonder; is the dream Negi has about receiving the staff accurate? Or perhaps it’s twisted to show the Baron instead of the Thousand Master? I also like the idea of Negi’s partners actually learning magic. If it’s in the manga I wouldn’t know since I haven’t read very far, but it would be pretty cool if all the girls suddenly started summoning dragons of spitfire or something. Negi sure has it easy though, being able to get partners so easily like that. What the hell are that cat and frog doing anyway? Having tea with Eva when they’re meant to be watching Negi! Oh well, it’s all for the fun and pleasure of the viewers! xD

Another awesome, hilarious, cute and completely random episode! So if you weren’t disturbed by the disgustingly funny close-ups of Negima, Nodoka, the dog and the cat, as well as the medium shot of Asuna, you should’ve had a wonderful time appreciating the hilarity of this episode. Actually no, the random close-ups definitely add to the humour, and it’s wonderful seeing Negima!? pulling out new tricks from its sleeve each time. The twins are super cute, especially when they’re ‘converging’ on Negima to get his kiss, and that would’ve made any lolicon his day. Apparently the twins aren’t meant to become Negima’s partners, though anyone who hasn’t seen Mahou Sensei Negima or read the manga would think immediately that they would get their pactio from the title, which was something like ‘turn us into adults’. Bah, can’t remember lol. Though really, anyone would fanboy over this. God I love this show…*sighs* Oh yeah in other, unrelated news, HAYATE THE COMBAT BUTLER is getting an ANIME! OMG that’s awesome! Expect a real post up tomorrow!

Aside from the otherwise standalone episode, there was a bit of plot movement involving Negima and someone who seems to be his father at first, but turns out to be a woman(?) called the Black Rose Baron…or something like that. Hmm, black rose…nice symbolism! I guess they represent death or some melodramatic aspect of life like that. But of course, getting two more partners is considered plot development, no? Probably everyone in the class is going to become a partner. Though ‘partner’ is a really bad term now, since there are obviously more than two people involved. Oh well, the more the merrier! Now we just need to wait to see what powers the twins have. It’ll probably be something that they have to perform together though, since that’s what the purpose of twins usually is. Anyways, half the time I don’t know what the hell is happening, such as 8 minutes into this episode when I was furiously taking screenshots and uploading some of the freaky random close-ups for the guys on IRC to check out, I had no idea what Negima or anyone else was doing. The library IS in the school right?
