D.Gray-man: Episode 50

Rating: 7.6/10

Impressions:

Some parts of this episode look amazing; both action and relatively still scenes had their moments. The filler arc has finally come to an end (I think, with the next episode being a transition episode), and naturally, everything goes back to the way they were at the start of the arc (with no new exorcists or anything). D.Gray-man should be getting a lot better now, and as I’ve said before, the manga is just awesome. I hope they somehow incorporate the large battle scene on the boat again (Linali needs to show off some of her more advanced powers). xD Looking forward to upcoming episodes!

D.Gray-man: Episode 49

Rating: 7/10

Impressions:

This episode is more of a repeat of past events, as it features the same situation that Lulubell’s servant is in (forgot her name). The important difference though, is that this time she fails really bad, which prompts Lulubell to engage the Exorcists herself. Personally, I don’t think she looks as intimidating as some of the other Noahs, though a Noah is a Noah and I doubt the animators would be stupid enough to not match her powers up accurately with her ‘family’. I guess this signals the end of her arc, and the episode titles suggest the same thing, and hopefully after, Allen will make it to the Asia branch of the Order.

D.Gray-man: Episode 48

Rating: 8/10

Impressions:

Wow, I ended up really enjoying this episode, despite my disappointments in Linali’s ascent to level 2 occurring in an anime-original episode, instead of in a manga-created situation that actually requires a powered up exorcist (this is the ‘Linali’s turn to shine’ part I mentioned a few D.gray-man posts ago). I’m glad a new exorcist has been found, and this new character, being so young, should become an excellent addition to the existing cast. That is, if she becomes a main character. There definitely needs to be more female characters around as well. And when I say that, I mean ‘normal’ characters, so Miranda doesn’t really count… >_>

D.Gray-man: Episode 47

Rating: 7.2/10

Impressions:

Well, at least this episode has more of Linali x Allen. =D That’s about all that I like about this show at the moment, since things are going absolutely nowhere. I was hoping that the producers would include volumes 6 to 8 as the series’ conclusion, with the end of the battle being the last episode, though it doesn’t look like these last few episodes will have any plot or substance at all. I guess the only thing that could act as a series finale would be Lulubell’s demise, though going against a Noah (to the death) before going against a level 3 akuma is a little too early, in my opinion. It seems like D.Gray-man won’t be stopping at 52 episodes…which is definitely needed.

D.Gray-man: Episode 46

Rating: 7/10

Impressions:

The show is being dragged out far too much now. It takes yet another episode for the group to meet up, and a rather pointless episode at that. None of the recent episodes have amounted to much, except for the Kanda episode, which makes for some extra screen time of the neglected character (in the manga). At least though, Allen, Linali, Krory and Lavi are all together, except that they’re already in Asia, meaning a whole chunk of the manga has been cut…which is VERY BAD. Unless they decide to rearrange the story and through it in at a later date…damn, it would have been Linali’s time to shine as well…

D.Gray-man: Episode 45

Rating: 7.3/10

Impressions:

Any episode involving Kanda is one worth watching (for me at least). What the manga failed to do, the anime at least, did it right. And that was to include and develop Kanda as a main character. Disregarding that, the quality of D.Gray-man has continued at a high level, which is a great thing to see. The short story presented with this episode is pretty well thought of in my opinion, though I’m not a fan of single episode stories at all. Take a show like Gurren Lagann, which is practically one long story divided into two major parts. Of course, there are a few mini-arcs as well, though not anything like D.Gray-man. I guess making it 52 episodes was a mistake.

D.Gray-man: Episode 44

Rating: 7/10

Impressions:

Ah…I fell behind again…it’s a good thing that D.Gray-man is almost over, since the fillers it has been showing aren’t exactly fulfilling. This again is an alright episode, though the lack of seriousness is a bit of a worry. Mimi’s story is a tad weak as well, and Linali’s sudden display of self-sacrifice is pretty awkward. All in all, this episode exaggerates things a little too much, and fails to piece everything together well. I wonder if D.Gray-man will lay off Lulubell for a while, and show something else for the finale. If the show is to conclude this season with any form of closure, continuing with Lulubell (or going back to the manga) is not such a good idea…

D.Gray-man: Episode 43

Rating: 7.2/10

Impressions:

So yes, as a standalone, this episode is once again pretty good, giving a nice continuation of the arc. HOWEVER, the question I want to ask is, what the hell the animators are doing, showing fillers with 2 months of the show left? Hopefully, they’re planning a sequel, and judging by the lack of story at the moment, I’d say there’s a good chance of it happening. Besides, absolutely nothing has been resolved yet, and it doesn’t look like anything will before the 52 episodes are up. And even though the fillers now aren’t half as bad as some in the past, the lack of manga material is getting to me…there are so many things I wanna see animated…
