Busou Renkin: Episodes 23 - 26 (END)

Rating: 9.2/10 (last episode)

Overall Series Rating: 8.9/10

Ah, my blogging of this show really lost momentum as the spring season began…I ended up having to condense the last four episodes into one post. At the moment, I am far more keen on the new shows. Busou Renkin ended up a pretty enjoyable watch, not being too thought-provocative or serious and maintaining a good amount of humour, even though the last episode brought everything down in my opinion. Now really, Kazuki and Victor can survive in space? And Tokiko as well? And somehow everything works out perfectly when Victor decides to take all the Homunculus on to the moon. Right.

I, like most people, only watch shows I find fairly good. Anything from average to excellent is something I would watch, and among the these shows, I’d say Busou Renkin is pretty average (yeah, 8.8/10 is average). Perhaps the manga was too long or something, but the pacing of the last episode was a bit off. Suddenly they’re on the moon; right after that a few months pass etc. It just went way too fast. The resolution was nice, but a bit clichéd as well. I still don’t like the Tokiko x Kazuki pairing. Or rather, I didn’t like Tokiko’s character design to be exact, nor did I like Kazuki’s clichéd shounen hero look. Oh well, it doesn’t really matter in the end.

    Well to be fair Kanon’s awesome ending cramed a year or so into one ep and it worked out nicely. And about Victory and Kazuki surviveing in space.. well they aren’t human. Human’s don’t survive in 5000C heat either do they? I think The silver skin created some kinda atmopsher thingy for Tokiko? Well that’s just what I assumed, it’s full of surprises anyway. (lol Another type, property one, reverse property ect I wouldn’t be surprised if it had more featuers)

    I would like to know if the manga actually ended there, but I have a feeling that it’s an anime exclusive ending. The suddenly Victor decides to take the white kakugane and it works, why didn’t it work the episode or two before I really would like to know, and the whole retreiving them from the moon. It was rather off.
    I totally WTFd when she jumped out to grab him and all of a sudden they lost thier clothes.
    And of course after finally becoming human again he decides to take become a humanculas, and then take all the humonculas of the world to the moon till a cure is found?

    Personally I think the show hit a climax around the time they did the backstory for the twins, and then started slowly loosing it’s awesome after Victor’s intro. While still ending favoribly in my book I would have to agree that it is only high avarage at best thanks to the exactly like every other shonen anime ever first arc, them making a Ciel clone and trying to hide it with a scar across her face, and the all too clean ending.

    Though on the note of the scar, got to say the ending animation was just great for the last episode.

    Totally agree with you. I was expecting a LOT from Busou Renkin after Kazuki found the White Kakugane. But after Kazuki got sent to the moon everything started crumbling down. For one thing, it ended up that nobody died, everybody ends up going to space, victor decides to establish a homonculus camp on the moon….and what else? Oh yeah, the fact that most of this was crammed into one episode. Most of the series was good but these last 3(or was it 2?) episodes screwed it. It’s a lot like Busou Renkin was gradually going up from the bottom and reached its peak during around episodes 17-21 and then suddenly goes down. It’s a real shame - maybe the manga does have a different ending, atleast I HOPE so…*sigh*

    @Bluestreak - Yeah same here. She just lunges out at the guy and poof! The clothes vanish. And next thing you know everybody’s safe and sound on Earth -_-;

    @Danny That’s Madness!! Nah I can understand why some people wouldn’t like it, it was good enough for me though.

    @Bluestreak2 You weren’t paying attention were you? Victory advanced to “victoriazation level 3″ While Kazuki was still one 2 or 1. The white Kakugane was strong enough to turn victorized people on levels 1 and 2 back to normal humans. But it only made Victor who was already on level 3 turn back into level 2 and then when the second one was used he turned back into a human.

    Well it really wasn’t that good of an ending but it wasn’t too bad imo. I really didn’t have high expectations for this show so I thought it was entertaning. I wonder if the manga has a better end, the first few volumes seem to be pretty much the same as the anime.

    According to wikipedia article, yes it ended that way.

    However it seems the ending was caused by the series going to be canceled so the ending seems a bit rushed, the worst part of the anime was WHY THE HELL DO HAVE TO LISTEN TO HAVE A DAMN SONG? that was time best served doing other things and considering some thing that were cut I cannot understand how they wasted a entire episode over what amounted a great deal of nothing.

    i think that this was a great show not below avg. and not to far above. the one thing i don’t like a bout that sum. is that the hold show was building around that whole “Tokiko x Kazuki pairing” and i think that it made a good addiction to the finale episodes i still think that the victor kazuki fight could have been alot longer it wasd not a bad ending but could have had improvements. i think they should contin. the series in some way.
