Busou Renkin: Episode 5

Impressions:

Phew, I’m finally up-to-date on Busou Renkin. I was quite surprised to see that torrents for this series are getting just as many peers as D.Gray-man. I thought this anime was meant to be not very popular. Oh well, D.Gray-man isn’t that popular currently anyway, but by the time Busou Renkin is coming to a close at twenty-six episodes, I’m sure D.Gray-man’s popularity would have skyrocketed (unless it stops at the impossibly low episode count of twelve or thirteen). Anyway, this episode, Kazuki and Tokiko destroy the bird homunculus, who turns out to be a homunculus derived from a…bird! The bird also has extreme loyalty to his ‘master’, the Papillion Mask guy, but in actual fact he’s just a lab-rat, uh, bird, to him. In the end, he is defeated by Kazuki, who wrapped the sash around his lance to increase his firepower. Man that took too long for him to figure out. You’d think that once you realise your sash is pure ass-kicking energy, you’d try to use it as soon/much as you can. Oh well, it was an enjoyable episode nonetheless. There was that issue with Kazuki getting pierced through the chest again, but somehow his shirt managed to stay intact and his insides (not even blood) weren’t spilling blood. Eh, shounen anime will always stay the same…

It looks like the Papillion Mask guy will be taken care of next episode. I WAS feeling sorry for him last episode, but seeing the preview of him getting all buff suddenly makes me wanna see Kazuki smash him for some reason. Now at least I don’t have a problem with him dying. If he doesn’t die, the antidote has to be retrieved at least. Regardless of whether he dies or not, I want to see either some new, stronger and faster homunculi, or a new evil guy since the Papillion man is not interesting at all. Even if he does manage to turn himself into a homunculi, it would still be the same old high school kid. I want to see the main antagonist dominate everyone one episode, so that when Kazuki comes back shortly after and utterly crushes him, it’ll look so spectacular! Kazuki and Tokiko already seem to have a thing going for each other, so it’s just a matter of time before they get into some fight before getting back together again, when Kazuki saves Tokiko or something. At least it’ll be interesting that way, though Kazuki’s already saved her life a few times. That reminds me, Tokiko confirms that there are other alchemical warriors out there (hooray!) The potential of this show has just gone up a tad. Ooh! Bleach 102 is out. Time to watch that now~hehe.
