Bleach: Memories of Nobody (Movie)

Impressions:
So after half a year, the DVD version of Memories of Nobody finally came out, followed by a speedy sub from Dattebayo. Of course, I downloaded it straight away and watched it the next day (since the absurd number of peers dwarfed the seeding ability of the few seeders, couple with my crap Australian internet, made the download extremely slow). I wasn’t planning on blogging it (well, certainly not screen capping it properly, since doing that for a movie is just stupid and time wasting), but I did decide to write a quick impression after a request from a commenter. I don’t have that much to say though, as being a side-plot movie, I’m not as ‘in touch’ with it as the series.
Compared with many other recent movies, the quality is not nearly as high, which is a slight disappointment. Seeing Naruto 3’s higher quality made me expect more from Bleach, though knowing the studio behind it, I guess I wasn’t that surprised. I think the main problem comes from the not so consistent facial animation. I did notice some of the faces to be quite off in certain instances. Apart from that and the general low quality (for a movie of course), there isn’t any other flaws I see (objectively though). If I talk subjectively, I can probably come up with a bit more. You ma have also noticed how I like writing the criticisms first in my posts.
Ok, now I’ll be speaking very subjectively. I don’t like the ending, but that’s solely due to the killing off of Senna, whom I fell in love with when the preview of the movie started airing, in place of the Bleach OP and ED animation sequences. It is quite obvious that all the movie characters would need to be ‘dealt’ with by the end of the movie, since otherwise it might make the series inconsistent. Meaning, if Senna stayed, it would be awkward that she never appears in the anime or manga. This is important for Bleach, as it is located in a pretty small world, whereas Naruto, for example, you can have the protagonists go to a random place and never go back again.
Right, now on to the fights. Sure, nice animation (at least compared to the normal ones in the series), though I felt that, by trying to get a large number of characters into the final fight, it doesn’t give a lasting impression. The individual battles are too short, but at least it shows that the captains and vice captains aren’t completely useless, as I’m beginning to think from the series and manga. Ichigo’s fight is pretty reminiscent of his fight with Byakuya, and again uses the cliché finishing move. Of course, I’m not complaining. I must say I loved the movie (due to Senna and my general love for Bleach), but of course it doesn’t mean I can’t express any negative views I have. =)
Senna, the new character around, and the main addition for the movie: yes, she has the best personality of all the female characters in Bleach. Which isn’t saying much actually, as there are hardly any female characters in Bleach. Let me name a few: Rukia, Orihime, Yoruichi, Matsumoto, Soi Fon etc. And I can hardly say that any of them have particularly good personalities. Rukia is not feminine at all, Orihime is too shy, Yoruichi doesn’t appear enough, Matsumoto is too anime-ish, and Soi Fon is too professional. Therefore, I think you’d be able to understand my thrill after seeing such a fun new (temporary) female addition to Bleach’s cast.
It’s pretty obvious that with a female character like that around, things would get really sappy in the end, especially with the amazingly fast relationship development between Senna and Ichigo that’s bound to happen. Sigh, this makes me think that Tite Kubo definitely needs to work on his characters and put in some normal high school girls to complement Ichigo’s friendship group. And when I say normal, I don’t really mean normal, but fun and carefree in general, like Senna. Her strange ability to scatter leaves certainly makes it a lot more artistic, though it would have been nice if she actually gets involved more in the fights.
Story-wise, I guess this is a typical movie-oriented plot, based off a manga-originated anime series, so it’s not like I wasn’t expecting something like this, before even reading the summary. So all in all, I didn’t like the storyline that much, though it’s still nowhere close to being bad in any respect. This is also why I’m not looking forward to the next movie that much, mainly because there’s no cool new character to entice me. Again, this is probably why I don’t like the Naruto movies much (I’m comparing to them because they’re by the same studio). The best movies, IMO, are ones that are straight from a print source, and ones that aren’t branched from an existing series.
Alright, so I did end up saying quite a bit. I didn’t take many screen shots, since, as I stated above, taking one every minutes would be too much for me to handle. Do I recommend it? Yes if you watch Bleach. Definitely if you like Bleach. Yes if you only read the manga. No if you don’t know what Bleach is. Yes if you like hyperactive girls. Yes if you like shounen. And definitely not if you are a Bleachtard hater. =)

i like the movie more than the naruto movies. this movie was awesome.
The Bleach movie wasn’t that bad at all. Sure the story was a bit lacking, but as you said, Senna is probably the best female Bleach character. It was entertaining, more than any Naruto movies I’ve seen or read about.

no i liked the movie it had a particularly emotional ending to say the least but yeah it had the same sort of bleach storyline, but i def recommend at least wacthing it even if it is just the once

Except probably, not shinigami form any more, but after the credits he catches her ribbon on the same bridge (what an odd thing to happen?*sarcasm*) then He hears her say Oh dont be dumb/stupid or something? and hes like huh? Looks and Senna runs right passed him and he smiles *end*
But remember, Ichigo doesn’t remember her. He grabs the ribbon and watches as a living Senna passes by.
Well, how do you know it’s even the real Senna? I was under the impression it was either a descendant or reincarnation.
This movie is much more better then any of the naruto movies and besides there are only a few moments of fighting action but they are fasta and good animated thats what makes this movie awesome especially the fight between Kenpachi and that black thats got the shuriken its been a long time since i didn’t see kenpachi fight so it made me remember of the time when ichigo had a fight with him ….. i still think that kenpachi needs to look himself in a room and start talkin to his sword
i will give it a rating of 8.5/10 it deserves at least this and every little thing is about senna shes a random character thats what i dont like about it the only thing but as i said i still prefer this to any naruto movie saw so far !
Yeah, the Senna at the end could be a reincarnation of her former self. Either way, Ichigo doesn’t remember although he may have had reminiscent feelings.
That is seena at the end, but she lost all her memeories, that is why she does not recognize Ichigo.
Arg finaly a interesting female character in bleach and they just kill her off…….

If any of you did realize, that in the end of the credits (most do watch though them
) Senna actually got to really ‘live’. So they ‘could’ manage a way to work her in later, by even restoring some of her memories, saying that she does become a Shinigami if she got… say… hit by a bus? or has a similar transformation thing like Ichigo and his father by later discovering it. My point being is, they didn’t ‘close’ her story completely, they just left a few blank pages at the end of the book for more 
MAKO, my question was, how do you know it was the same Senna from before the credits?
Evens, i don’t think so, as putting her in the anime would screw up the cast and the manga parallels.

I agree with the blogger, on the style… but personally, when i saw the length of the movie (1 and a half hours) I was like “Woah! this is a good size film”… but… the story seemed very rushed. The fights, were really short, Kenpachi though making himself the badass… (granted he is) didn’t even take off his patch… Also, I think the bells on his hair were removed… The rest of those attending were rather… quick with their fights… When Rukia was saved, that fight seemed about right for Ganju’s personality to end it quickly with his bankai.
The best… animation i saw was of Senna and her wind zanpaktou (yes wind…. the blogger said the use of her leaves, but the real art was her ability to control wind, the leaves were used kind of like seeing the art of leaves blowing in the wind, it’s real beauty.
Granted, all the main bleach characters seem pretty clean cut, but Tatsuki’s is who i’m waiting to see again, as well as Momo, their personality’s were extreamly similar to Senna’s from the movie, and none of you remember her ;_;
Anyways, back to the movie. The end… sucked… and not because Senna gave herself up. It sucked because, well… the story moved ‘way’ to fast, and left you like “well… what the hell?”. They should have added another half hour to the movie so that you could gain a bit more from all the characters. Also, How Ichigo somehow killed the main villain, after getting impaled by him not more than 1 hour ago (in the game’s time frame) and suddenly is on par, then ‘beats’ him in a small time frame like he had?
Also, the Blanks and their motives seemed a bit too straight forward, even for bleach’s standpoint. I mean, we had the Bounto, whom… well.. had the straight forward reason for causing their chaos. It just seemed ‘way’ to simple.
The whole “Memory Rosery” was far to easy to tell it was Senna, that it made Ichigo look like more of a retard than anything. Also, the time frame of all of this happening seemed like it was going on in less than 2 days time… To get mowed over and then be utterly overpowering seems a bit… unbelievable even in Anime terms. The powers of all the villains seemed no where near used to their best, given the time frame they were said to have been cast out…
bah… I could go on… but like i said… the movie on a whole wasn’t as good as i was hoping it to be. Senna was and ‘is’ a good character… but I won’t say that one have decent main character is noteworthy for a movie.
as an after statement, don’t think i don’t like bleach, I really do… I just think with the story they gave us, they could have done sooooo much more, and even splurged a bit more in the animation department. Adding tear ducts to eyes, doesn’t make it ‘better quality’ Guys
Also, i’ve seen normal series that reach over 50eps have more movement by background and overhead shot stand in characters than this did. I mean, really…. Go back and look around… unless the the camera was looking at head level when Ichigo was chasing after Senna in the town, most of those people didn’t move until the little performance part.

This movie was the best!! I love Bleach, but this movie truly made me emotional. I totally can’t believe that Senna died! I don’t really get the end about another character looking like Senna in the end. If possible, can anoyone tell me how to contact the people who make Bleach, please?!?! Senna should really be in the Bleach episodes and there should be like a Bleach: Memories of Nobody 2, where Senna comes back or something. Also, how do u guys know Ichigo doesn’t remember her. When he grabbed that ribbon, and saw a girl resembling Senna, he turned, smiled, and walked away. I really hope they make Bleach: Memories of Nobody 2. What would really make everyone happy, is if creator/drawer of Bleach adds Senna in the episodes. So everyone, please, we have to convince him! For the sake of Senna!!

I liked the movie..kinda….i did like Senna, but i felt that her character just makes the rest of Bleach cast look dull…which is why i didn’t like it…and Ichigo going on about saving his friends (which is SENNA this time)…is kida annoying already..i didn’ like the feel of this movie…well, animation was good, which is why enjoyed it…but yeah, everything was so rushed….i just don’t know. maybe i won’t watch Bleach movies, theyr weid anyways.

I loved this movie.. but it made me so sad, i want Senna to be in the episodes!.. The movieattachs toy to her and doesn’t let go and to end it with ichigo and senna not knowing echother its just heartbreaking.

Although, I didn’t really get it though…I was sorta confused on what really happened with her past.
On her family’s gravestone, her name wasn’t in it. And on the other memories she had different parents…and then I thought that her memories were from the other people but she was still in the same body though. Then at the final ending she was another high school girl…with a different uniform but still the same person. So now I’m thinking..I guess she never really did die..and just lost her memories I guess? Can anyone clear up to me what really happened??? It’ll be greatly appreciated.

Senna was amazing. I fell in love with her character almost immediately. When she sacrificed herself I cried soo hard for several days. I cried just as much (mabye even more) than when Orohime left. She definately was the best female character in Bleach. I Love You Senna!!!!

*sniff* the ending(AFTER the credits) is kinda emotional for me, I mean, it’s just…! I don’t know how to explain it, it just kinda twists my heart when I think of it. I think the best word to use for the ending is ‘Bittersweet’. You know, happy but sad.
Anyway, all in all I thought the movie was pretty sappy.
They made Ichigo too soft, him falling(in love) is just not ‘Ichigo’, and there are a number of other things I could complain about. I watched the movie in english because I was with a friend in the theater, both of us prefer watching anime in Japanese with english subtitles so we both expaected the voices to be horrible, and lo and behold the voices were just WRONG. The anime we watched was from VIZ so what we watched is alittle different to what others might have watched.
P.S. I, too, fell in love with Senna, she is just SO cute!

Did anyone notice Senna in the background on episode 204 around minute 8:00 behind Ichigo at the restaurant? So either the movie happens after this episode, or the producers felt bad that Senna dissappeared from everyone’s memories and decided to show her once more. I felt sad that she died :’(
Was awsome movie I was so sad at the end because sanna was killed i shed a tear because of that
but at end credits she appears to have no memories of ichico as she passes by him just to state that she did not die 
it was just to leave an opening to another movie or a later season of bleach that she could appear in and honestly do think creater of bleach just throw her away like that as he states he cares about his characters just as much we do so getting this much reaction new character sanna he would add her back into bleach for his fans, that’s my view of it
