Bleach: Episode 117

Ok, this should be the last time I fail to update my blog for a while. The last few days, my computer was once again at the maintenance stores, getting completely wiped, and having Windows XP reinstalled, and other stuff. This means though, that I will need some time to reorganize everything, so my blogging will probably be reduced somewhat over the next week days…or weeks. I am also going to Japan for two weeks in a few months time, which will be fun, but bad for this blog…Oh well, it just means more work for me in order to catch up. Well, glad that’s cleared up now…hopefully.

Bleach 117 once again maintains its newfound high quality for all of us to greatly enjoy. This episode, for those who don’t read the manga, might be quite a shock, as Rukia finally gets to kick some ass of her own, being able to utterly obliterate an Arrancar on her own, and even revealing her shikai, Sode no Shirayuki, a white ice-type sword with a fatal special move! |

Another surprising thing is how powerful the Arrancar are. It must seem like Toushiro and the others are already having trouble, yet they are all high ranking officers. What a lot of people would have forgotten though, is that vice captains and captains get their power limited to 20% or something when in the living world… |

If you’ve seen the title of the next episode, you know there’s going to be a nice little surprise regarding Ikkaku and his power. His is just one of a few awesome fights to look forward to in the next few episodes (and will take about a month or so). Of them all, I’m especially looking forward to when Ururu goes into god mode xD. |

In terms of power, it’s already apparent that Grimmjaw is special amongst the new Arrancar. His reiatsu pressure is easily comprehendible when in Ichigo’s and Rukia’s presence. Ichigo’s power is not restrained either, so he should be able to fight at captain level, or close to it. Toushiro is getting more action as well, though he wasn’t meant to be involved with the Bounto. |

As more arrancar are introduced, the possible matchups are increased drastically. Personally I would like to see Grimmjaw fight with other espada (a term non-manga readers should not be familiar with yet), even though technically we know who is supposed to be stronger. Also, hopefully we get to see some other captains get involved as well! |

Chad seems to be the worst off. Not only is he completely powerless to defend himself against such power enemies, but he can no longer keep the promise he made with Ichigo some time ago, to look out for each other and fight each other’s battles for them. It’s a nice inclusion and really brings back some good memories of Bleach in its early stages. |

Some of the flashbacks also make it clear that the character design has greatly evolved over time. Personally, I think Ichigo and the rest look better the way they do currently, which is probably how it’s meant to be. The new arrancar also have some nice character designs, while the new music is just awesome! I’m definitely glad there’s a new BGM. |

This episode covers three chapters of the manga; 200 to 202. However, judging by the next episode titles, I can guess that the number of chapters used will be reduced somewhat. The beginning of fights cannot really be stretched, as it is still quite specifically eventful, though battles themselves can be lengthened quite a bit. Hopefully, the fights now will be good! |

I was surprised about Rukia’s property of her Zanpakutou. I didn’t realize more than one person could have the same elemental property. Her sword’s pretty, so it’s all cool. Seeing Toushiro is enough for me *__* I thought she finished off what’s his face pretty quickly– maybe too quickly, though it was an awesome display of her power.
I completely forgot Ishida didn’t have a reiatsu…but then, what the hell has he been doing with his father?! I do feel bad for Chad, though. Can’t wait for the next episode.

good post good episode:). I wonder how will the anime handle the fights. will we see them in the order of the manga or shuffled/mixed a bit.up until now they pretty much ran along the manga so I think they will keep it that way, but now we have what I think is the biggest battle yet so they have room for mixing/shuffling a bit.

Folks, Retsgip has been a bit busy fighting for his life in the jungles of Cambodia lately (or Uni exams, same thing), so this means I get to do what I always wanted to do, cover a shounen episode aside from Naruto. Just because I’m covering this episode of Bleach does not mean I have any real idea on what’s going on, of course. I’m the blog’s combat vixen and GAR women guy, and I am not really attuned to the Bleach side of things. I do use Chlorox to clean out some of my Kitchen pipes…does that count? I do know one thing, I really like Rukia and trust me, Danny knows all about my hopeless crush. [...]
