Bleach: Episode 114

Rating: 9.5/10
Impressions:
This episode is superb in a lot of ways, and goes to show that a non-filler battle is both FAR better than any Bounto battle I’ve seen, and much better animated. Yoruichi kicking ass like that is really quite impressive, and so is Ichigo’s momentary ownage of the Espa- I mean Arrancar. >_> Even Urahara gets a spotlight, regardless of how brief it is. I really want to see Yoruichi and Urahara fight more. Yoruichi gets her share of action in Soul Society, though the only time Urahara has really fought anyone is when he is training Ichigo for the first time. But that doesn’t really count, since Ichigo is incredibly weak at the time compared to now.

Once again, Ichigo is shown to be far weaker than he should be. In order to achieve pure pwnage like Yoruichi does against Yami, Ichigo needs to activate bankai. What does this mean? Unarmed Yoruichi is just as imposing as Ichigo with bankai? I doubt the cut off arm put him at such a large disadvantage. It’s not like he would’ve been a lot stronger with that arm anyway. |

I’m not sure at all, but it seems like a new animation team (I don’t mean the studio) has taken over…or perhaps the original animators decided to completely change the way they draw Bleach. It’s a very noticeable difference, such as Inoue’s more natural hair, a wilder looking Urahara, and generally better looking characters! Rukia also looks fantastic in that last shot of her. |

|
It’s quite obvious that the animators decided to draw everyone extremely well when it counts, such as during the fight, and even when Ichigo is having some intensive thoughts about his surfacing Hollow and his inability to protect everybody. In other parts…yeah, the faces are often very poorly drawn. The overall quality is a helluva lot higher though. I love the nice backgrounds too! |
|
It looks like there’s some new background music as well, with some playing in the middle of the fight, and also at the end when Rukia reappears. However, I’m not sure if they’re new or not. Nevertheless, I like the music quite a bit, and hope new tracks will continue to be used. And I really don’t like the music used during the fillers…they should just be dropped immediately. |

|
With the quick display of power from Urahara and Ulquirro, it seems like Ulquirro at least is at captain level. Yami is far from it, though he had never released his Zanpakuto. Then again, neither did the Shinigami side. But with this, we can get a better idea of how strong the Arrancar really are. And think about it…Aizen wouldn’t send his strongest soldiers to scout out and kill Ichigo right…? Hehe… |
|
This episode covers three chapters…even with that ridiculous minute long cycle of Yoruichi eating…At least in the manga, she eats a normal amount of food. Of course, that sequence is just a time waster, as well as the other long pauses. However, the long pauses do help with all the depression going around. One of the things fillers just can’t do is include character development. |

|
However, already everyone is suddenly undergoing some major changes. Ichigo is constantly thinking about his immediate future and in which direction he should go. Inoue is getting some well needed attention after Soul Society, and her lack of participation. The amount of thinking that goes on is really impressive. Bleach is not just all fighting and action, which this clearly shows. |
|
The sheer number of characters allow a lot of heavy interaction and development, which is one of the show’s strong points. It makes the characters far more interesting as well, another aspect which fillers lack. I’ll be looking forward to more of that next time! The number of chapters used per episode should rise soon as well, when there’s more action. Next, look forward to seeing more of the new arrivals! |

|
Plot Outline: - Ichigo arrives in time to protect Inoue from Yami |
|
- At Urahara’s shop, Yoruichi remarks on how strong the Arrancar have become, as opposed to their own predictions |

Rukiaa!!! Awwwyeahh!!!
Rets and yourself know how long I’ve been waiting for this moment.
Even its for a mere 30 seconds, it was the best 30 seconds since I last saw her 2 eps ago.
I hope I didnt scare the rest of the commenters away with my super Rei-like fanboyism.
Rukia is the best thing in Bleach. Look at this week, her return in the manga and the anime is so exciting. She pwns.
The animation seems good but I don’t like the character designs…Orihime and Rukia are prettier in the manga.
In referecne to your omg read this now spoiler,

All in all great episode though.
Darkshaunz: yes we know lol, you love rukia
eurys: its not really the character designs, just that the animators cant draw the characters that well, or do not have enough time to do so IMO
REVYFtw: its more like i desperately HOPE it is true because it would suck if it isnt
good post. it seems that they make the action really good but the non-action talks they lower the quality a bit. I don’t care if they do it like that but if the non-action things will be very low quality it will bad. I mean yeah the fighting is good but I think the rest should be done good too.
About the manga: guys kubo tite still knows what he’s doing. yeah we had some not so good chapters lately but I think from now on we will get great ones.
umm so whats the music when that ulquiorra guy hits the fat dude yami? the spanish shit? whats that called i really need to dl it lol love it
hmm…you think the animation got better? I thought the manga scans you had up there look a lot more powerful than the anime (thanks for those pics btw).
And I thought almost everyone got uglier. Ok maybe not everyone, but Ichigo’s face looks an “extra long”, and his eyes are a lot closer to each other than I remember, or is it just cuz I haven’t watched Bleach for a while?
arcanes: thanks man ^^ yeah i agree, though if i had to choose between good fights and crap everything else, as opposed to mediocre everything, i would choose the former…but it depends on how much action there is in an episode.
yea: sorry i have no idea
ohphive: yeah, the manga is just 100x better drawn than the anime. and as for the characters, it;s completely opinionated. i say its better as in i ‘like’ it more than previously.
looks like the animators are off crack now.
Oh, Yoruichi a freeloader at Urahara’s house?
One thing I found kind of strange was the lack of blood. When Ichigo and Inoue got smacked around all that came out was “spit” and when is an arm cut and not eve a drop of something come out… comparing it to the manga I was left kinf of dissapointed.
thund3rs: or perhaps they just started on it xD
Darren: hmm, it appears so, the two go back way long
leonardo91681: yeah, it was censored quite a bit compared to the manga
They drew Rukia extremely nice is the last scene huh. I can’t help but being seduced.
