Bleach: Episode 110
Rating: 8.5/10 (higher if it wasn’t for the quality)
Impressions:
Well, how’s the first episode of the return of the ‘real’ Bleach? It was, admittedly, only ok. I was completely expecting it to be like though (btw when I’m talking about the mediocre quality here). The show has just come out of some big battles, which would have costed a lot I imagine. You notice the lack of funding this episode gets when you see hollows doing nothing but standing around, and when there’s not enough explosions. Compare this to episode one of Bleach and you’ll see. Also, it isn’t really fun watching Ichigo kill the hollows without ‘cool’ and ‘awesome’ overflowing from his actions. He just jumps up and swings down; not much variation in shot types and such. Also, where’s the hollow blood? Or at least make the hollows more gruesome when they die. And another thing I’ve found to bash; Shinji’s voice is the complete opposite of what I had in mind. I expected it to be quirky or something, as it suits his character and looks. But voice doesn’t matter to me as much since I get used to them easily. However, this still pwns the fillers, as it is already apparent that the scripting and compilation of events this episode is far better. So many things have already happened!
I can’t wait to see Hiyori and her bitchiness, though I’m not sure it will be next episode. More like the one after. In fact, I can’t wait to see a lot of things. There’s a surprise next episode, which will be sweet. Think about Kon and how he encounters the Grand Fisher. Guess who’s gonna save him? Another hint: the title of the next episode is “Shock! The Fathers’ True Identity”. Notice that this title does not refer to one father. Am I giving away too much? Oh and of course, I can’t wait to see the arrancar. Hopefully the upcoming fights will be better than the Bounto ones (they were totally lame). And hopefully the quality will return to its heights again. Oh but the thing I want to see most is Ichigo’s ‘training’. And something which has bee on my mind: might the anime go too fast and have to go into fillers again? I think it will take about a 30 or 40 episodes until it catches up to the current chapter, but by then another 30 or 40 chapters will be out. Overall, I believe it will take about 50 or 60 episodes to catch up to the manga at the time, which is probably when this arc will end anyway. And after that, I don’t know. Maybe Bleach will end for good…
Plot Outline:
- Somewhere in Hueco Mundo, the hollow, Grand Fisher, changes into an Arrancar…
- At school, Keigo is distressed because Ichigo approaches Chad, Inoue and Ishida instead of his regular friends
- Inoue gets hugged by Chizuru, who ends up getting kicked by Tatsuki
- Ichigo’s hollow detector goes off and he runs off, followed by Chad and Inoue, pretending to be going to the toilet
- Tatsuki notices Ichigo in shinigami form as he runs across the grounds below
- Ichigo finds the hollow and kills it quickly, though he’s noticed by a guy floating upside-down from above
- Back in class, a transfer student by the name of Hirako Shinji arrives, who is actually the guy who was observing Ichigo just before
- He sits down next to Ichigo and asks him to get along as friends/comrades
- After school at night, another hollow appears, so Ichigo runs off alone to fight it
- He manages to kill the hollow easily once again and also meets up with the resident Shinigami with an afro
- Ichigo is then attacked by Shinji though, who reveals himself as a Vizard (a masked soldier)
- He shows off his Zanpakuto and hollow mask, explaining that a Vizard is a Shinigami who steps into the realms of a hollow
- Shinji claims that he and Ichigo are the same, as Ichigo is also a Vizard, and asks him to join him
- Meanwhile, a Menos Grande appears and starts chasing Ishida
- Ishida tries to defend himself with some sort of reiatsu pellets, but ends up being saved by his father, Ryuuken
- During these attacks, Kon (in Ichigo’s body) starts getting chased by the Grand Fisher

Nice new ending song, though I still prefer the more ‘rappy’ songs that Bleach uses a lot. My favourite ED so far has to be the second one: “Thank You!!” by HOME MADE KAZOKU

50 or 60 episodes is a hellova lot of episodes. Hopefully I’ll still be watching etc by the time it reaches that point (over a year). This episode was pretty sweet for me, who doesn’t know whats going on. I bet we’ll be getting mixed reviews from here one, based on our experience with either reading or not reading the manga.

I have a request though… Previous few post reviews quite alot of spoilers to those who are watching anime series only. Just hope the post/comment doesn’t contain too much spoilers 
I know we’re sure to read some spoilers but too much of it is no fun.
Anyway, I’m so looking forward to the next episode omg.. So is this the first episode of season II?
Btw, what’s an Arrancar which the once Hollow Grand Fisher changed into?
Kev, if i am about to give a major spoiler, i would warn the readers. If you see me saying like ‘upcoming spoilers’ or whatever, just skip that paragraph. Also, an arrancar is the opposite of a vizard, a hollow given shinigami powers (youll find out more in he episodes to come)

I think I get what you mean by the dad thing. I think I was spoiled a while ago about…what a certain dad might be xD And Retsy-san’s right, I think. Non-manga-readers will be blown away by this episode!
Wow, they really burnt through the manga chapters with this episode (3-4 chapters actually if my memory is correct). If this keeps up, the anime will catch up in no time at all.
Ah, I was thinking that the episode would end with Shinji bringing his blade down on Ichigo, but it went all the way to even introducing Ishida’s dad
SPOILERS danny SPOILERS. Well I already knew.
Pretty good episode, followed the manga exactly like it has always done so. The animation quality is good and crisp but the art quality is pretty bad at certain stretches, filler quality even.
Exertim: Bleach has always been burning 4-6 chapters per episode since it started. They’re just returning to their old pace. I won’t be surprised to see fillers soon again, probably before they go to Las Noches.
