Bleach: Episode 109

Rating: 8.5/10

Impressions:

HOORAY the fillers have now completely ended, meaning the number 1 ongoing shounen series IS BACK!! I am so horrendously excited, for my number two all time favourite series has returned to its former glory and superiority. And if you can’t tell, no I do not like Naruto at all. This episode is actually a really well scripted follow-up and intermission episode between the fillers and the return of the manga storyline. For those of you who haven’t read the manga, I can assure you the manga storyline is awesome. For the minority who thought the Bleach fillers were good, you are in for a nice treat. And of course, all the Bleach manga fans are probably rejoicing and cursing DB at the same time for releasing this episode so late. There’s still some more merging to do in regards to Ichigo and the other leaving soul society, though next episode should be more or less about the events from chapters 182 to 185, judging by the title of the next episode and the preview. At the end of this episode though, we get the new transfer student who’s name is Shinji, and he likes to write backwards. Well, that last part isn’t really relevant but oh well.

And something which I have been meaning to get off my chest for some time now… WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD. Well, I’ve been thinking about how the manga up to this point, as well as the manga onwards from this point, are basically replicas in terms of story. Let’s divide the manga into two halves, the first being the 64 episodes before the fillers, and the second half into the manga storyline from now onwards. If you think about it, you’ll realise the events that happen are basically…identical. First there is the transfer student, which was Rukia from the first half, and now Shinji from the second half. Then comes the attack of the beings from the ‘other world’, which are Byakuya and Renji from Soul Society in the first half, and the arrancars from Hueco Mundo of the second half. Following that, from the first half, is the training Ichigo undertakes with Urahara where he becomes a Shinigami/Hollow hybrid, aka a Vaizard. In the second half, he goes off to train with the Vaizards, this time to perfect his Hollow powers. Oh and did I mention that in the first half, Rukia gets taken to Soul Society while in the second half, Orihime gets captured and taken to Hueco Mundo, where Aizen is? And both Rukia and Orihime are/were extremely important to Aizen’s plans. And of course, Ichigo and company then begin their quest to rescue the relative girl in danger by venturing to Soul Society in the first half, and Hueco Mundo in the second. Well, there, I’ve gotten it off my chest.

I lol’d at the juice comment. *pinches danny’s cheeks* what a cuuutie.

I’m glad the fillers are over. You can already tell they spent a lot more time writing this episode than the others. The monologue alone had some major depth to it. Now, back to waiting weekly for pwnage.

Sorry, I don’t know how to spoiler tag, so… yeah, SPOILERS.

There’s another parallel - when Ichigo and crew arrive in wherever they’re going, they always seem to get a ‘tag along’ who isn’t part of the crew - like Ganju in Soul Society Arc and Nell in the Arrancar Arc…

well, can i ask what manga chapter the current episode is? i just followed the anime, so i’m not really familiar with the manga… and i guess it would be too tiring to start again from chapter 1… it would just be like watching the anime all over again (for the most part)….
