Bleach: Episode 104

Rating: 6.5/10
Impressions:
Another crap, idiotically executed Bounto destruction episode. It’s a shame how I’ve been negative about Bleach for some time now. The good thing is, with Koga’s death leaves just Kariya, signifying the nearing of the end of the Bounto arc. But I’ll go into that later. First: why this episode is stupid. The main point anyone would’ve picked up is how Koga died. It’s not illogical like Yoshii’s demise, since Toushiro has control over the battle the entire time. However, it is extremely anti-climatic and also brings about the absurdity of the rest of the fight. Toushiro is clearly far quicker than both Koga and Daruku, so why the hell did he not attack Koga from the beginning? Why did he go after Daruku when all he had to do was kill the Bounto to finish things off swiftly? Because once again, the filler script writers weren’t creative enough (or just too lazy) to come up with a decent fight, pitting the captain and Bounto against each other on more balanced terms, so that this idiocy did not have to come forth. It also doesn’t make sense how Koga fought such a shit battle when he is meant to be the second strongest after Kariya. I know Soi Fon was injured, and Mayuri is probably just not that strong, but the problem is I’m against the use of Toushiro in this battle. Another captain could have been utilised to create a more effective bout. What’s more, if you’ve read my previous entry on Bleach episode 103, you’d know why I think this.
I’ll just go ahead and say it. Toushiro gets a fight in the manga storyline thus far, and no other captain does. Urahara and Yoruichi get one too, but they aren’t captains. Komamura (fox captain) could’ve provided an interesting fight, since he and Koga are of similar build. Apart from that, the battle just naturally stank since it’s an uncreative filler fight. Another thing, while I don’t applaud of such a thing, there isn’t enough build up to drastic power increases. I wouldn’t that to happen anyway because it would lengthen the fillers. However, despite the failure of this fight, as well as the death of Koga, I must say the mood is pretty tightly set. The gloominess that the end resonates is quite extravagant, when compared to the emptiness that is the rest of the fillers set in Soul Society. Once again the Bounto are made to look innocent and good, which is a nice effect I’d say. Ok, enough of that. I want to talk about the end of the fillers. Here’s what I think’s gonna happen. After Kariya is killed by Ichigo, Ishida or whomever, Bleach will go into a short period of nonsensical Naruto-type fillers, acting as a sort of transitional phase from the Bounto arc to the Aizen/Arrancar/whatever-you-call-it arc. Ok, maybe not exactly nonsensical, but there won’t be any action of course; just some returning-to-real-world episodes. The mood will most likely lighten and the feel of the show will return to that of the beginning of Bleach. Time will be spent at school and other everyday things. Throughout that phase, Aizen will probably be shown a few times devising his evil plans and such. And finally, when Bleach returns to being BLEACH, the FILLERS FINALLY END!
O…M…F…G
Just thinking of the end of the fillers is…scary.

A few nonsensical Naruto-type fillers would be nice before getting into Arrancar arc. It lightens the mood and gives some more time to Kubo Tite sensei.
Not too long though…or we’re getting Naruto crap all over again.
Man, I had expected him to join up with the soul society and start fighting kariya. He could have sacrificed himself to save soul society and it could have been a touching ending. Now it’ll end in a big clash of who’s penix is bigger as usual.
Is this the first time we see Toushiro’s bankai? I can’t remember seeing it before this. Yeah, whatever. This whole arc started off kinda weak, got pretty strong, and is now gonna end weak. I guess I shouldn’t have expected much from a filler arc.
I’m pretty sure we see it when he fought Aizen…
We saw Toushiro’s bankai back when he fought Ichimaru, he was trying to save Hinamori.
Don’t worry, it’s almost over…… (lets hope)
Actually, no he didn’t. He only released his shikai when he fought Ichimaru.
And I’m not sure about him using his bankai before. I’m probably just thinking he has since I read it in the manga BEFORE this episode, so yeah, time is confusing ^^;
hitsuguya is kinda weak; i mean, 2 of his 3 petal-like things have exploded just by fighting a dumb bounto! another few seconds and his whole bankai would bo BOOM! and hitsuguya would lose all his powers, and Koga would dice him into tiny pieces with his axe. No offense to hitsuguya lovers, but i think he is the weakest captain of them all
I dunno, what about the captain of 4th squad, the healing one?
Toushiro used his bankai when he attacked Aizen in the soul society arc. Also I dont think his bankai just goes boom after the flower like ice-crystals disappear ( I’m basing this on the fight he has in the real world during the Arrancar arc in the manga)
His bankai is supposedly limited to a certain amount of time, and over time the crystals shatter. So when all the crystals shatter, he loses his bankai mode. I also got this from the manga.
and i just wanna add how badly drawn and how incredibly out of proportion the characters are in this episode. it’s as if they were drawn by interns or smth. oh my. it’s real bad. please end the bounto arc. please….
