Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto: Episode 2

Impressions:

So, that ugly guy from last episode isn’t a main enemy or anything. I thought it was strange that such an enemy would be introduced so early in the series; it was the fact that he seemed so powerful and evil! I was a bit disappointed with the fight this episode. I had been hoping for some more action after the little teaser from last episode, but the ugly guy’s only move turned out to be the swinging uppercut thing (I can not remember the names of anything at the moment!) His demise was also short and unexciting. At least with Samurai Champloo, I got some really cool sword action, so hopefully this show will start improving its battles when the enemies get harder. I wonder if the lead has any special powers. Since there’s already some supernatural occurrences, it’s not unlikely that he won’t develop (if he doesn’t already) a move like the ’swinging uppercut thing’, only much grander. The other characters should also get a bit more influence in a fight if they’re going to be helping the lead. There is also a chance that the lead will part ways with the other guys as he really holds no debt to them again, but the girl seems to be an important character so she at least should stick around.

The art is very detailed most of the time and the animation quality stunningly high, though I noticed one scene where that all disappeared as the background and foreground became incredibly simple. It was only a short scene, so if you were paying attention to the fight, you mightn’t have caught it. Anyway, something completely unrelated to the quality of the show are the mysteries which it has presented; the lead character’s purpose in venturing to the city which he is in being the biggest. Also, why was he drawn to what seemed to be a ball of paper last episode? I thought that was actually pretty cool; I hope he gets blue eyes again and goes psycho like Orlando with his blue lantern. Apart from that and the other small questions, this anime is turning out once again to be another great series this season. I am really happy that there are so many good shows this season, though some of the subs are really slow. Other note: I was going to do D.Gray-man episode 5 next, but the download is going reaaally slow since there are more peers than seeds, so that’ll have to wait. I think I might go and finish watching Inukami for now…

I hate this anime becuse it’s squandering its potential. Cliched stereotypes and a dumb villian. He knows that water stops his “earth power wave” yet he chases his attackers into a paddy field with water. He kills the parents but leaves the kid.
I am also annoyed at the fact that these guys are affecting the future. It’s like having Indiana Jones fight Hilter. The historical era should be your setting, not your chance for an alternate history. =P
Then again, it is Sunrise. =P

Well, if the guy did kill the child and didn;t chace them into water and killed them all instead, there wouldn’t be an anime in the first place, would there?

During the 1st episode i thought this anime had real potential…like rurouni kenshin (samurai X)….which is the best samurai anime IMHO! However after watching the second episode i felt kinda let down. Firstly the protoganist was kinda lame. Assesing the skill the runnig away for help! Come on! Show some guts! I thought the second fight was gonna be good but then again….THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT A NOBURO WATSUKI STYLE!!!! (neither was busou renkin but thats another story =) Anyways HOPING THAT THIS ANIME DOESNT ROT!!!! dONT WANNA waste my precious download time =) on some crap show which ACTUALLY SOME REAL POTENTIAL (FINGERS CROSSED LIKE THE SCAR ON KENSHIN’S FACE) =D

I had a longer comment but it got lost. anyway, it seemed Akizaki was holding back, but also could just be his being en garde; for such attacks.
The ugly guy was strange, I’m not sure why it was included, but I thought it was a bit distracting, like how Houdini would perform an illusion. Something big must be happening soon.

It’s pretty enough that I’ll keep watching. So far Fall 06 is turning out to be a bit of a disappointment. I’m still following Death Note but it hasn’t really excited me. At this point the mysteries in Bakumatsu are more puzzling than intriguing, so I hope they’ll have some sort of hook relatively soon.

Ryan, I didn’t find your comment in the spam list so I don’t know what happened to it.

reslez, I’m actually pretty impressed with this series as there are a lot of good shows. Almost all the ones I’m blogging right now I like pretty much, though I really wished I had blogged Gift ~ Eternal Rainbow instead of Yoake.

Quit picking everything to death so freaking soon into the show. It really bugs me when people take time just to moan about the anime…”this is wrong, that is wrong”…..The whole world is like that. Your irritatingly picky and anal personality’s are wrong….But what’s right?….That’s what matters. People spend too much time looking at what’s wrong…that’s why the whole world’s fucked.

Not everyone has a stick up their ass, and everything deserves a fair chance. Don’t make out like something is rubbish–because you say so, forever condemned.

Did you not notice the HUGE character developments in this show? A= the nightmare that Akizuki had….of the man he failed to protect.
and B=The slight glimmer of what might become feelings when Yuyama was unexpectedly protected.

Those kind of episodes are always hard. The director, under the circumstances did a good job. Anime these days, is mostly about fan service…They have to provide everyone with a bit of everything….and hope they hit the mark.

Watching her parents die and living afterward was a much crueler fate for Yuyama, so leaving a kid alive after that makes sense for me.

I wouldn’t have said this show was THAT “cliche”, if it were more like Rurouni Kenshin however, I would (But that’s just in terms of what fallowed after it, but only to fall in its shadow). So quit compairing them because they’re nothing alike!!! It would also be dumb to have a “awesome fight” so soon into the seires. It would be utterly pointless, because if you show he’s really strong straight off, where does that leave you later on?….Dragon Ball Z?

Episode two is always a little rocky. So stop moaning and making out like it’s some filth that dares to take the time of the great “god” Gettana.

um…are you talking about me Terra? I really cant be stuffed reading my own post again but I actually like this show >_>

However, if it really bugs you about what you read, my advice: don’t read it. And besides, (although I like this show) if I didnt like something, I am well within my rights to smash it as much as I want, regardless of what other people think. So take that into account before saying stuff like that, ne? ^^
