I guess his quest is to return to the present. But I don’t care what the plot is, as it’s an all CG anime – ugh! I am definitely not watching that.

In the manga, Kazuya Shibuya researches supernatural phenomenon, being the president of the Shibuya Psychic Research Centre. Mai Taniyama and her friends have become curious in the history of an old high school building, and whether it is haunted or not. Kazuya arrives at this school to investigate the matter, along with a Buddhist monk, a Shinto priestess and a woman who can speak with the dead.

Kazuki Muto, a high school boy, saves a gir called Tokiko Tsumura from a giant monster, but ends up being stabbed to death by it. However, he wakes up the next morning and thinks it had all been a dream. He is wrong though, as the monster shows up and attacks him and his sister. Tokiko, the girl Kazuki saved, returns and tells him that the monster is a homunculus created from alchemy. She also informs him that he did die and is ony conscious now because of a subsitute heart, a kakugane, created from alchemy that can combat the homunculus. Using the kakugane, he creates his own weapon to fight the humonculus, which is in the form of a wide lance.
