AnimeBlogger is getting bigger…

AB AB Forums AB Antenna AB IRC AB Donate

I recently browsed to the AnimeBlogger.net home page and was quite surprised how big the list of blogs have become. I remember when I first visited it around half a year before I joined myself, and the list was pretty small in comparison. Anyway I managed to find 11 new blogs on AB.net, and by new I mean started in September or October. I’m glad to see more blogs popping up for more diverging material and thoughts on anime. Reading the impressions of a range of viewers is quite benefiting, so I hope they all take their blogging a long way and not just stop after a month and never come back…That’s happened a few times – so sad T_T

Anyway, here’s the list. Please visit! Btw, if you have a blog on AB.net which I haven’t mentioned, please feel free to say something in the comments. (Also, please visit Distant Star and VOTE for the language he should blog in!)

Ahhh. Maestro’s neverending philantrophy at work. XD Imagine those days where there’s only Omni, Matthew, and couple of others in the list.

I think there is a trend where a bunch of new blogs join our community at the beginning of each season. It’s pretty neat, actually.

Better than none, I’d say. If they actually stick around, then all the better for me. I love reading blogs almost as much as I love watching the animes they’re about (sometimes more).

wow a month already in AB XD, though sadly some people start blogs and forget about them =/ I try to update mine daily but sometimes it’s gets a bit tedious so I always take a day or two off then continue blogging it’s a hobby after all but it’s fun :D

I believe I joined sometime early September, having only started about a month before that. It’s a lot harder to keep updates consistent than I originally thought. Though I do manage to update about once every two days and catch up with about 4 posts on the weekend. Fun stuff, but oh so time consuming >_

I see…I didn’t realise there were people who moved blogs…in fact, I am one of them. I moved here in mid July from MSN spaces.

We get more requests from new bloggers than people moving blogs but both do occur. There’s also more blogs that haven’t asked to be listed yet (they haven’t decided they’re ready, or they’re too new). Not bad considering we don’t advertise our free hosting at all. Most people seem to find the forums and from there figure out we offer free hosting and how to contact me. :)

Lol thats exactly how I found out…and hey! It seems like another blog has been listed on the main page

Yep, I added two yesterday and one more tonight. There’s at least one more about ready to be listed so probably another one tomorrow (or later today). We’re also hosting bloggers in three languages at the moment (English, Spanish, French) and I believe there’s one in the works that’ll be predominantly Georgian.

Sounds fun. I looked up animeblogger when I first wanted to blog a year ago but read stuff about how you need an accomplished blog or whatever. Sure there’s TONS more I could do without the wordpress constraints, but I never wanted to turn my blogging into a huge thing. It’s all about having fun and getting your thoughts down right?

yea but you need to put bodyguards near you

the fandom can be dangerous !, ecxpet that i never cared what i post, since it’s what i think and nobody going to change it even if they whine, cry, yell, start shooting a machine gun. if they want to argue they can do it construtively in my opinion.

Retsgip: I think you’re confusing us with someone else, we’ve never required you to be an already accomplished blogger or anything. We pretty much take all comers, we just haven’t been advertising it. I’d say over half the blogs listed on the main site were brand new to blogging when they got an account with us. We also don’t mind if you want to keep it small or try to really grow either, that’s your call. :)

Yay! Linkage XD And yea, Maestro’s pretty good about taking in newcomers such as myself. It’s a nice opportunity for great hosting, better features and some increased viewership, and all for free =D Aggregators like AnimeNano and BlogSuki are the ones with listing requirements, not to say that’s a bad thing though, keeps those abandoned blogs to a minimum.

Lol, well, you just got some crazy advertising in this entry I believe. be prepared to get a flood of people!

and…that sucks, considering i’m probably one of the few who use wordpress’s free shit to blog about anime. At this point, moving would prob just be tedious and i might lose my precious 5 fans that visit me daily.

Shirukii and I used to be on wordpress… but then we moved on to leech on the kind Maestro’s hosting. Although it was a lot of trouble to move [coding for the most part. Everything in wordpress.com was automatic and easy, vs actually coding the stuff which you'll have to here. The move for Shirukii was fairly painless, since I was delegated the coding task =p ], in the end I’d say it’s all worth it.

AB.net certainly did seem to get larger since the time we joined, which was only about a month ago? Now I actually have to scroll down the front page to see everything, when before I never had to. Looks like the community’s growing =D

I moved onto AnimeBlogger.net because I wanted to tweak the width of my blog so that it can accomondate better-looking entries. That’s why it took me two weeks to actually get it open since I’ve forgotten my CSS/HTML skills from five years ago. XDD

Hmm, I wonder what the percentage of blogs on AnimeBlogger.net managed by girls vs. percentage managed by guys are.

    So Retsgip…thinking of moving now?

Atashi, yes that would be cool to know. And I take it you’re a girl if you’re using ‘atashi’ as a title?

If maestro allows me to switch/join in a week when i’m not busy with school/midterms/essays then yeah, I’ll definately look into it.

One of things I hate most about wordpress.com is that I can’t tweak what my blog looks like and I like doing stuff like that.

So, yeah, I guess I’ll hafta figure it out.

Shirukii: We don’t view abandoned blogs as an issue for the Antenna, if they’re abandoned they don’t generate new posts and their old posts get buried in the listings. Basically they just take care of themselves. One advantage we see to that is if someone does start blogging again their posts will show up and they can build readership again faster too. :)

Soda: Not only do you have to scroll now, I’ve adjusted the line height twice in the past month to try and keep the scrolling down, we’re definitely growing nicely now!

Retsgip: You know this already since I just E-mailed you back, but in case others want to know, you can switch when you’re ready. We don’t list you on the main site or Antenna until you tell us you’re ready. I’ve had a couple of blogs that took over a month before they asked to be listed. :)

wahahahaha, that sounds good. Man, no wonder i was like O_O when i saw that many new blogs. Well, considering i started in august and gathering a decent amount of viewership, it seems that anime blogs get enough attention nevertheless.

    Rock on, people ^+^

Wow, now I see why I got 22 votes for “English bloging” =^_^=. Thanks a lot! I can on;y pry that those who voted will not be disappointed by terrible amount of mistakes in my posts :P . And I hope I’ll think o something to write in 2 languages so that English users will not see Georgian posts and vice versa…

Wow. Seems more peeps have joined.

But I noticed, most of the members of animeblogger.net are anime critics and I no anime critic, hehe. But I enjoy it. :D
