CLANNAD: Episode 3

Rating: 7.7/10

Impressions:

I want to see more of both Tomoyo’s and Nagisa’s pasts, though it looks like the show is focusing on Nagisa’s drama club for now. I wonder if the importance of the drama club comes in the form of the medium from which the story will gather all the main characters into one setting. Any actual performances will probably just be side shows, but I can imagine the kind of relationships that can form if everyone’s working together in the same club. The next episode’s title is about making friends, which I assume will be about Nagisa’s drama club again.

D.Gray-man: Episode 52

Rating: 8/10

Impressions:

The new OP is pretty good IMO. Currently, I still like the old OP better, but that will probably change once I listen to this new one more. The animation shows a lot of new characters as well, (the character I want to see most is Fou, the girl who goes through the wall in the OP), not to mention some scenes of major battles that are pretty recent in the manga. That certainly looks very promising. I wonder if a certain General that everyone is looking for will appear in the next 25 episodes…If the pacing and percentage of fillers stays the same, I’d say definitely not. Maybe in 50 episodes time…

ef ~ a tale of memories: Episode 2

Rating: 7.7/10

Impressions:

Busy, as usual. I promise though, that I will be able to catch up on everything during the weekend. I have Friday to Tuesday off, so I’ll be able to do some more blogging then. Technically, the break is meant for revision, as exams comes immediately after, but I, as well as many other people, probably won’t be doing much studying at all (I partly blame this blog xD). And if anyone is wondering, any show I haven’t started blogging, is a show I won’t be blogging. I originally only wanted to blog three new ones, but more sucked me in. I’m extremely weak when it comes to things like that. x_x

Dragonaut - The Resonance: Episode 2

Rating: 7.9/10

Impressions:

So the CG seems to be a bit of a problem here. I’m not going to say it necessarily affects my enjoyment of the show, but I agree they look far too artificial. Anyway, it’s quite uncommon to see an introductory battle arc that lasts this long, unless it’s one that will ultimately stretch through almost the entire series. The pacing, IMO, is excellent. Hopefully, Dragonaut won’t ease up at all and continue to dish out episodes that will have viewers at the edge of their seats. I feel that Code Geass and Gurren Lagann both have this impacting feature, which is what separates them from shows that start well, and quickly cut down on the action, and ultimately ends badly.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai: Episode 12

Rating: 7.5/10

Impressions:

I guess there’s no point in trying to divulge a lot of the symbolism and secrets in the upcoming episodes, as everyone’ s probably watched ahead already. I’ll make these posts short. There’s one last part of the minagoroshi-hen, and I’m still wondering whether a massacre will actually be animated in detail. This episode features a lot of talk—mostly explanations, and little action, though it would be highly interesting for those who still have no idea what’s going on. Details about the disease are made clear, and the reason Keiichi heard footsteps when he goes crazy in the first arc of the first season is clarified as well (aww, Hanyu’s so sweet xD).

D.Gray-man: Episode 51

Rating: 7.2/10

Impressions:

Now we’re back on track, though the manga material is being stretched out with some minor filler material, which is perfectly fine. Finally, Allen and crew are GETTING ON THE BOAT. Yes, the ship is very important—this is supposed to happen the last time Allen boarded a ship (which made me go crazy as it effectively meant they were diverging from the manga completely). Now, I wonder how many episodes will be manga-material before fillers start taking over again. There are some characters I really wanna see, who appear later in the manga (only a few volumes ahead, but so far D.Gray-man has only covered something like 5 volumes in 50 episodes).

CLANNAD: Episode 2

Rating: 8.5/10

Impressions:

I wonder if KyoAni will give Tomoya time with each girl, like they did with Kanon (and Air, but less noticeable due to the number of episodes). So far, Tomoya’s relationship with Nagisa has developed speedily and firmly, though he also has a clear foothold on the other girls as well. Probably because of this, it feels like Clannad has been moving amazingly quickly over the first two episodes. The humour is awesome, but not excessive like most comedies (I shouldn’t use the word excessive, since humour is a good thing hehe). The hit combo and air time is priceless.

Shakugan no Shana II: Episode 2

Rating: 8/10

Impressions:

While the villain of the first two episodes ends up being another small-fry, she seems to give Yoshida a chance in the spotlight. This makes me wonder whether she will become important or powerful later on. Before that though, it seems that Yuuji might actually get tgo fight on par with Shana in the future. That would be pretty cool, but personally I just want to see Shana get a massive boost in her skill level. Aside from the action-aspect of the show, the development of the characters and their relationships with each other are coming along nicely. Hopefully, Shana will properly confess to Yuuji sooner or later.
