Naruto ~ Shippuden: Episode 28

Rating: 3/10

Impressions:

I cannot believe how stupid this episode is. It’s so stupid it’s not even laughable. Gai’s team spends 20 minutes on figuring out that they are actually getting tired, as well as figure out that in order to defeat their duplicates, they need to become stronger than them. This is the kind of thing that’s plain embarrassing. And what’s more, they actually all get pinned down at the same time, and all manage to ‘get stronger’ (wtf is this?) at the same time and defeat their clones. Wow, way to go from episode 26 to 28. Hopefully Kakashi’s and Naruto’s fight will actually have some substance, and no filler-esque stupidity.

Nagasarete Airantou: Episode 22

Rating: 8/10

Impressions:

Finally, an episode with some major character development. It really is heart-warming to see Ikuto and Suzu together. Ikuto might still want to return home, but I’d say he’s already feeling an obligation to stay with Suzu, who has no one else to call family. In the last few episodes, I doubt there will be much more development between the two. It’s not like Ikuto’s going to end up with anyone, and when it comes to Suzu, being family is probably the best option. Hopefully there won’t be a sequel, since all that’ll happen would be more random events that don’t achieve anything. The show should finish on a good note, and not try to come back for more.

D.Gray-man: Episode 49

Rating: 7/10

Impressions:

This episode is more of a repeat of past events, as it features the same situation that Lulubell’s servant is in (forgot her name). The important difference though, is that this time she fails really bad, which prompts Lulubell to engage the Exorcists herself. Personally, I don’t think she looks as intimidating as some of the other Noahs, though a Noah is a Noah and I doubt the animators would be stupid enough to not match her powers up accurately with her ‘family’. I guess this signals the end of her arc, and the episode titles suggest the same thing, and hopefully after, Allen will make it to the Asia branch of the Order.

Hayate the Combat Butler: Episode 23

Rating: 7/10

Impressions:

Ah, another Yukiji episode! I find those that involve her are usually fun and lively, as that’s exactly what her personality is. However, this episode is slightly more random than funny, though there are some scenes that I just can’t get over. Her impersonation of Light from Death Note is certain scenes are comedy gold, while Izumi’s continuing habit of calling Hayate ‘Hayata’ is equally as funny. There’s also an unusual abundance of chibi scenes in this episode, which I find rather contradicting with the outrageousness of the show. Chibi and Hayate-type random does not work well for me.

Autumn 2007 Preview

So in a few days, the fall season of 2007 really begins. Yeah, my preview’s a little late, as always, since I tend to leave to the last minute and rush whatever I do. I wrote this over the course of the week, but mostly over the last two days. Also, there may be mistakes, don’t flame me for it. Information could have been updated since I wrote it, etc. I left about the OAVs, specials and kid shows as well. Anyway, about my blogging whatever show: I’ve decided to severely cut down on the number of shows I’m doing, and so the only shows that have a chance at me blogging them, is if they are average or above. I plan to select maybe 5, and I already have a good idea what.

Bleach: Episode 142

Rating: 7.5/10

Impressions:

It’s nice to see that the next few episode titles do confirm the continuation of the manga storyline. Ichigo and company are set for Hueco Mundo, and episode 146 is labelled as the one where we finally get to see Nell! And hear how she talks. I can say that I’m really looking forward to the episode where we are introduced to the fully grown Nell (oops, spoilers =P), which will be quite a while (30 episodes more?) Speaking of which, even though once everyone’s in Hueco Mundo, fillers won’t be able to fit in anywhere. But knowing Bleach’s studio, a way around will be found. I hope the storyline won’t be altered due to this.

Darker than BLACK: Episode 24

Rating: 9.5/10

Impressions:

I really like this episode, and I’m not even sure I can justify my reasons to myself. An episode like this—something that is in the midst of tying everything together, just has to be better than the subplots that have been the main plot fodder of the last 20 episodes. And hopefully, the next episode—the finale—will be just as good, if not better. Quality, as always, is excellent. But it’s the sense of finality and closure that makes this episode wonderful—not to mention the various scenes that just make you feel good (the most prominent one being Huang’s parting with Hei and Yin).

Sky Girls: Episode 10

Rating: 7.5/10

Impressions:

It’s nice seeing Ryohei care so much about Otoha. He takes her words so seriously that he stays up all night, checking on Zero. Although I still can’t get used to the idea of a pairing between the two, due to the large difference in appeared age, I can’t help but like the increase in intimacy between the two. I guess right now, they are at the stage where they can accept each other, shown through their constant bickering. Previously, the two would genuinely become angry at each other. I wonder how long it will be when they actually start to take each other seriously; something which rarely happens with Otoha’s and Ryohei’s character types.
