Tokimeki Memorial ~ Only Love: Episode 21

Rating: 7.5/10

Impressions:

It seems that Tomimeki Memorial has finally decided to begin the major plot, to which the rest of the show has been unnecessarily building up to until now. All the other episodes are really just wastes—Tokimeki Memorial would have been good enough as a 12-13 episode series. Anyway though, hopefully the Riku x Sayuri thing will continue for the remaining episodes, as that’s the only thing that seems to give the show some direction. Sayuri does a lot of blushing this episode, which makes her feelings even clearer, though Riku is as thick-headed as ever, obviously.

Bleach: Episode 137

Rating: 7/10

Impressions:

Ah, it’s nice how this episode redeems the last episode somewhat, as it does provide a nice explanation of the situation with Ulquiorra, as well as connects it to the main arc. It’s just that with shounen anime, a lot of the lesser enemies seem to be incredible stupid, up to the point where they actually believe they had taken down Ulquiorra with such lame attacks. Anyway, I found myself enjoying this episode a lot more than I expected, probably due to the great leap up from the last episode, as well as the lack of any Bleach last week. The next episode seems to return to the manga storyline, which I can’t wait to see. Hopefully Bleach will be filler-free for a decent while this time.

D.Gray-man: Episode 43

Rating: 7.2/10

Impressions:

So yes, as a standalone, this episode is once again pretty good, giving a nice continuation of the arc. HOWEVER, the question I want to ask is, what the hell the animators are doing, showing fillers with 2 months of the show left? Hopefully, they’re planning a sequel, and judging by the lack of story at the moment, I’d say there’s a good chance of it happening. Besides, absolutely nothing has been resolved yet, and it doesn’t look like anything will before the 52 episodes are up. And even though the fillers now aren’t half as bad as some in the past, the lack of manga material is getting to me…there are so many things I wanna see animated…

Nagasarete Airantou: Episode 18

Rating: 7.5/10

Impressions:

So from now on I won’t be able to tell whether an episode is manga-loyal or anime-original. Regardless though, this episode is pretty good, introducing a new character (who’s fun while it lasts, but hopefully won’t interfere too much with the Suzu x Ikuto think happening at the moment). Speaking of which, it seems like Suzu s starting to feel uneasy when other girls get near Ikuto, but chances are she doesn’t know why she’s feeling such things. Maybe Ikuto needs to fall on her and grab her chest as well to ‘inform’ her of her feelings. The fact that most of the girls have never fallen in love and don’t even know what it feels like makes for a pretty interesting character set, IMO.

Mushi-Uta: Episode 3

Rating: 7.8/10

Impressions:

The change Daisuke undergoes after donning his uniform is extraordinary, affecting even his voice. He seems to be absolutely ruthless in this form, which is probably why he did not hesitate in shooting Shiika all those years ago. The normal Daisuke is a completely different person, but I find both likeable. When he’s normal, he’s actually really normal. He’s not a wimp when it comes to girls, he’s not a pervert like some helpless anime leads are; he’s pretty much your average student, which I find surprisingly. Of course, his ruthless state is just plain interesting, as I wonder how he would act towards someone like Rina if they meet in the next episode.

Hayate the Combat Butler: Episode 20

Rating: 7.2/10

Impressions:

I don’t understand why the producers make the anime jump around so much in terms of the manga sequence. It would be much easier, wouldn’t it? And I doubt many fans who’ve read the manga would be praising the anime for its originality in rearranging scenes. Well, being a light comedy, it doesn’t really matter, and this episode nicely follows a sequence of two chapters. The story this time is fairly straightforward and less comedy-orientated, though it’s nice how they keep bringing in the misunderstanding between Nagi and Hayate. I wonder if Nagi will ever find out the truth…(hmm, that could mean the end of the anime…)

D.Gray-man: Episode 42

Rating: 7.5/10

Impressions:

OK, so for a filler, this is actually pretty good. The story is continuous and actually appears to be somewhat thought-out. I personally really liked the idea of Lulubell disguising herself as Linali, though what bothers me is that she’s afraid of taking on four exorcists, when a noah should be more than capable of doing so. The recent manga arcs have proved as such (although technically Allen, being the protagonist, is meant to be above your average Exorcist). Lulubell’s level two akuma servant is getting on my nerves a little with her high pitched squeals and such. Her being so also makes Lulubell seem less sinister, which is not really a good thing.

Sky Girls: Episode 6

Rating: 7.8/10

Impressions:

Finally, we get some proper action! Except that the battle that takes place is a simulation…well at least the first few scenes involving someone who will seemingly join the Sonic Diver team is real, which means that WORMS, or something similar, definitely do still exist. The plot moves slower than I had originally hoped after seeing the opening scenes, though at least it’s getting somewhere now. Also, the new girl, Eliza, ends up being a complete opposite of the bratty little ojou-sama image I had given her, though it’s possible that she will turn into one as a façade of her own grieving…until she warms up to Otoha and the others…well that’s just my imagination…
