Bleach: Episode 131

Rating: 8.2/10

Impressions:

It’s late, I’m tired and I really have nothing to say, except that this episode is pretty crap due to the poor quality. The arc overall was pretty good, though Shouta pissed me off a few too many times. Also, it looks like there will be plenty more fillers to come, as the next episode titles indicate that each of the shinigami members will get their own episode, starting with Hitsugaya in 132. That episode is also when the new ED starts, which hopefully will be better than the current one (which sucks, yes). I have to admit, I am interested a little bit in the next episode since it involves Karin, and it doesn’t look to be of shit quality.

Death Note: Episode 35

Rating: 9.6/10

Impressions:

Everything has risen to the extremes. Mello’s partner (or subordinate) Matt, as well as Takada, both die tragically. I would feel sorry for both of them, except that Matt hasn’t had enough appearances while Takada always pissed me off in the past. I guess her blind faith in Light also made her partly responsible for her own death. These events were once again compressed to the minimum, and this inadvertently causes the downfall of the loser. Speaking of which, be prepared for a serious bashing of the show for my entry on the last episode of Death Note. =P

Darker than BLACK: Episode 9

Rating: 9.3/10

Impressions:

This arc has proven to be pretty interesting, especially as it focuses on a main character, Misaki. I guess this episode’s major role would be to develop her background, and perhaps give a reason as to why she becomes a member of the police. However, even though she is a main character, her powerlessness in almost everything that’s happened so far makes her seem rather insignificant. Her history with Alice is fairly generic, but it’s the events taking place in the present that make this episode entertaining. For one thing, I wonder whether Alice was really herself when she goes insane and kills her father, before turning on her friend, Misaki.

New Poll: Which anime are you looking forward to most in summer 2007?

It was nice to see that a lot of people liked the opening to Lucky Star, which I personally think is totally win. The new poll now, being appropriate for this time I guess, concerns the new upcoming summer shows (though Tetsuko no Tabi has already started airing). In my opinion, summer is the third strongest of the seasons, with spring and autumn at the top. With spring finishing, I can say I have successfully blogged anime for a full year now (accumulating 800k+ visitors). I now average 3000 visits a day, though that has dropped slightly due to my decreased post count.

Anyway though, my top three ‘most-anticipated’ shows for the next season are:

1. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai
2. Sky Girls
3. Doujin Work (because Ravage said so xD).

Naruto ~ Shippuden: Episode 14

Rating:9/10

Impressions:

This episode turns out to be pretty interesting, with good use of the flashback with Naruto and ‘Ero-sennin’. Gai’s gate releases are pretty impressive as well, and right now I really want to see some good ass-kicking (since equal fights aren’t really my thing). This episode covers about 1.5 chapters, and I seriously hope the rest of the volume can be covered in the next two episodes. The pacing is getting highly tiresome, and the fights going on aren’t exactly that good. The good thing is that the animation quality is staying at a consistent above average.

Hayate the Combat Butler: Episode 12

Rating: 9.2/10

Impressions:

Finally, Nishizawa Ayumu makes her first real appearance (despite all those random appearances in every episode). She’s a pretty likeable character in my opinion, but I was hoping her crush on Hayate would be more reserved. It would be nice if she acts normally to express this, though I guess that’s probably reserved for Hinagiku and her cute moments. And yes, Hinagiku is still my favourite character. Hayate is building up quite a harem regardless, though I can hardly say the that this show is a harem show. Hayate no Gotoku is far more of a parody than anything else, I’d say.

Summer 2007 Preview!

Last time, my predictions and expectations of which shows I would like proved accurate most of the time. However, I ended up failing at blogging the shows I really liked, as I had already foolishly filled up my to-blog animes list with shows I had the most confidence in, as opposed to actually watching them first and seeing how good they were. I would have replaced Nagasarete Airantou and Gigantic Formula with Claymore and sola, and most likely would have blogged Kaze no Stigma and Gurren Lagaan as well. I hope to be a bit more organised this season though, and lower and raise my expectations for the seemingly good and seemingly bad shows respectively, to give more animes a chance.

Anyway, if people are wondering, I will probably only be able to take up about 4 shows, since I am definitely getting more busy in life and am lagging behind quite a bit on the shows I’m doing now. I spent my blogging time recently in doing this as well…

Nagasarete Airantou: Episode 11

Rating: 9.2/10

Impressions:

I always love it when new characters are introduced, and Yukino’s mother is especially entertaining, being the shocking loli-looking teen that she is. I can’t even remember seeing her in the manga, or if she’s appeared yet at all (or she might even be an anime-only character, though I’m pretty sure I read something along the lines of this episode some time ago). Apparently, all the guys died 13 years ago or something right? This means Yukino can’t be far off from that age, so I wonder how old Yukino’s mother was when she gave birth to her. Apart from her, we got some well needed Machi appearance as well, though it’s still not nearly enough.
