Darker than BLACK: Episode 6

Rating: 9.5/10
Impressions:
A suitable ending to another two-episode story, though the ending was pretty predictable in certain aspects. At around the 15 minute mark, with nothing much resolved, it became pretty probable for Havoc to be killed. There really was no other effective way to conclude the story, and this is excluding stupid and unbelievable endings. It was possible for the story’s ending to be postponed, for example sending Havoc into hiding and going back to her story later on in the show. However, with the strict dual episodic nature seen so far, I doubted that. I was also expecting Hei to go crazy and completely own November 11, but the fight was pretty even.

It’s getting to the point where the fillers are just tedious to watch. The true story has been put off long enough, and I’ve found the quality of these fillers are getting lower and lower. Hopefully, next episode will be different. In any case, I don’t really like episodic fillers that show continuously. It should either be a single arc, or the fillers should be spread out more evenly. If the anime had started a year later than it did, or perhaps after the manga had finished, I’d say the overall quality of the show would be much higher. D.Gray-man started off great, but if it continues to prolong this nonsense, it will become very unpopular indeed…

Even in the manga, the only thing I actually found interesting instead of amusing was the development between Suzu and Ikuto, which I believe has just begun to reveal itself this episode. Was that a hint of disappointment I sensed in the closing scenes in Suzu? Well, apart from that, we got another nice and humorous episode, well laid-back and fun to watch. The random talking animals are another example of the crazy things that occur on this island. Ahh, it might seem childish with the cutesy sheep and talking bears, but I find it hilarious! We even get a random appearance by Ayane, though I wonder where Machi has gone…The show is very incomplete without her.

Rating: 8.5/10
Impressions:
With five chapters covered in this episode, Death Note is now up to the beginning of volume 10. With three volumes left for the remaining seven episodes, it looks like everything will be rushed and a heap of juicy stuff will be trashed. It’s a shame Death Note isn’t a 52 episode series. If that were the case, nothing would have to be rushed and the anime might actually be as interesting and exciting as the manga…however I do admit that thrillers are usually better when they are animated (especially when they have awesome music accompaniment for the fast pace, which is how Death Note is at the moment).

Rating: 8.2/10
Impressions:
Although this arc has been rather I believe that the issuing of the new mission marks the turn-point of this series. It’s perfect timing as well, as episode 27 would be the first episode of the second half of D.Gray-man, as it is 52 episodes. I wonder how the anime will end, as I’m pretty sure it will be different to the manga, which has yet to finish. This episode was yet again a filler episode, and for once I didn’t like it, since I really am not interested in Allen’s past, especially if it’s told in such a non-serious way. However, I did like the several Linali shots in this episode. xD Ah…it’s nice seeing Linali with long hair…oops, did I say too much? lol

Rating: 9.9/10
Impressions:
Kyoto Animation has done it once again, creating an episode with awesome hilarity, high quality and the natural feel of Lucky Star that we (or I) totally love. While this episode is my favourite so far, I feel it was probably pulled past all of the previous episodes with the beach/bath scenes and inclusion of more characters than usual. If you don’t know, I have this thing with the number of characters in a show (the more the better…WAY better). The jokes are refreshing and hilarious as well, incorporating many parodies once again. The most obvious one was the Initial D parody, which easily cracked me up.

Rating: 9.3/10

Covering three manga chapters and maintaining good quality, this week’s Bleach continues to move along excitingly, more so for those who haven’t read the manga I’m sure. However, at the pace Bleach is going, and with 50 chapters to go at this moment, fillers can’t be too far off. We’ve had almost 20 episodes of genuine Bleach now, can we reach a full year’s worth of it? And even if we do, how many fillers will there be? 50 episodes? 100? Or better yet, the producers will actually stop Bleach and make a sequel out of it. Unless they found those two years worth of Naruto randomness to be a stroke of genius.

15 commentsSpring…The Shows I Missed

Even after this post, where I thought I had stopped sampling new shows, I managed to start and resume following a few more. So instead of just letting everyone know about this with no other criteria, it would have been pretty petty and random. Also, I thought I’d make up for a few shows which I decided not to blog, yet am watching anyway. The ones I mention here are ones I would recommend.
