Gigantic Formula: Episode 2

Rating: 9.3/10

Impressions:

I hope people don’t dislike the character designs too much. As weird as this may seem, I have grown to actually like the designs now. I also hope the few blogs that seem to be blogging this show don’t drop it now; it would be such a shame. I for one love this show (for the time being). I guess I could attribute this fondness to its resemblance to the beginning of Evangelion, where Shinji refuses to pilot his Eva, before finally working up the courage to do so. However, Shingo here (the male lead), is not a coward like Shinji, but then it makes it somewhat unrealistic (a kid is not scared of fighting in a real gigantic thing which could get him killed at any moment?)

Death Note: Episode 26

Rating: 9/10

Impressions:

A half-recap episode that was interesting nonetheless. Death Note’s plot is always a delight to watch and hear, as it is just so well-written (except for the ending which is BAAD). I was surprised that L’s death is not included in the tape, though then it became apparent that the tape is a recording by L himself, and he would have been able to record his own death in. Hopefully the L fans have stopped grieving now, and if not, you will be happy to know Light hasn’t won yet (this statement does not mean or imply Light will win or lose in the end). But since I’m behind by so much, I guess you all knew that right?

Busou Renkin: Episodes 23 – 26 (END)

Rating: 9.2/10 (last episode)

Overall Series Rating: 8.9/10

Ah, my blogging of this show really lost momentum as the spring season began…I ended up having to condense the last four episodes into one post. At the moment, I am far more keen on the new shows. Busou Renkin ended up a pretty enjoyable watch, not being too thought-provocative or serious and maintaining a good amount of humour, even though the last episode brought everything down in my opinion. Now really, Kazuki and Victor can survive in space? And Tokiko as well? And somehow everything works out perfectly when Victor decides to take all the Homunculus on to the moon. Right.

Death Note: Episode 25

Rating: 9.5/10

Impressions:

LOL at L rubbing Light’s feet. I won’t go into any biblical references that people have been saying, as I have no clue about them, though I will say it is seriously too gay for me (this doesn’t happen in the manga). But anyway, it was a nice episode, nicely animated and very in-touch with the emotional matter of things. I have to say Light’s acting is pretty good as well. After THAT event, he’s practically won the world (in his eyes), yet he can put on such a believable outcry of grief in the presence of the other detectives. You would think the overflow of success and excitement might make Light slip up, but then again, this IS Light I’m talking about…

Hayate the Combat Butler: Episode 3

Rating: 9.2/10

Impressions:

Hayate no Gotoku is certainly getting better. There are a lot of good jokes this episode, and I love the abundance of censoring of words such as Freeza and Sony. Hayate no Gotoku loves to make a joke out of just about anything popular, and it’s highly amusing to watch. However, the best part is when Tama starts talking. I knew it would happen, having read the first few volumes of the manga, but it’s the crazily clear voice that made me crack up. You would expect some deep, gruff voice coming from a tiger, but Hayate no Gotoku is full of nicely executed surprises!

Lucky Star: Episode 3

Rating: 9.3/10

Impressions:

Is it just me, or is the moe-ness of Lucky Star increasing with each episode? I am so in love with Konata’s XD face. She and the twins in ponytails are hilarious as well. I know some people aren’t really finding this show a comedy at all, let alone liking it, though I find it amazing funny. It definitely has that Azumanga Daioh feel to it, only less school orientated and more random. Not to mention the characters look better (and definitely younger) and perhaps have more interesting personalities. Either that or it’s just because of Kyoto Animation xD. In any case, I certainly hope that more people will grow fond of this show as it progresses.

Bleach: Episode 123

Rating: 9.5/10

Impressions:

I said last time that judging by the title of this episode, it seems that the anime will once again stretch a single chapter into a whole episode. I need to correct that. I meant episode 124, which is the next episode. Hopefully the fight between Shirosaki and Ichigo will be awesome. I’ve been anticipating since the scenes shown in the 5th OP with YUI’s Rolling star. As opposed to what should be a nice action episode next time, this episode utilises the humour of Ichigo getting his ass handed to him by Hiyori. His momentary transformation into a hollow is pretty intense, though I think I like Hiyori’s teary face at the end of that scene the best xD.

New Poll: Which of the 6 Bleach OPs do you like best?

Yeah, I know the picture is completely irrelevant to the poll topic, but I just felt like putting a Higurashi picture up there. =)

Anyway, please vote on the new poll, which is: ‘Which of the 6 Bleach OPs do you like best?’ This question addresses the aspect of how well the OP (both animation and music) fits the anime. Is the music appropriate for the anime? Is the animation sequence a good depiction of Bleach? Do both aspects of the OP work well together (eg, the music is good but the animation does not depict the anime well)? And etc…
