A few Manga titles…

Yaoi Girl

Hmm…new section: Journal! These posts will usually be very short and randomly describe things about what’s happening with me that would otherwise have to be categorised into the ‘Other’ section.

First thing I’d like to say is Death Note is FRIGGIN AWESOME!!! That said, I strongly recommend you check out the manga if you haven’t done so. Try the Anime as well – can’t guarantee it’ll be as good as the manga though. Another thing, I have recently picked up ‘Mx0′ after a suggestion by Shuffled Thoughts, and I have to say it’s pretty good. The best thing is the drawing style is PERFECT – my ideal style. That’ll change from person to person of course, but it’s good in general anyway. I should write something about both mangas sometime too.

Coyote Ragtime Show: Episodes 11 & 12 (END)

Coyote Ragtime Show

Impressions:

I am quite disappointed with this show, and I really dislike writing full summaries for shows I don’t especially like, which is why I stopped with this show a few episodes ago. However, since it’s the last two episodes of the series, I guess I should illustrate the important points…at least. Note the following list of events is not necessarily in the order it happens the episodes.

Muteki Kanban Musume: Episode 11

Muteki Kanban Musume

Impressions:

Wow. The reason I say that isn’t because it was extremely amused with another hilarious episode (which, by the way, it was), but because it was both funny AND immensely grotesque and disturbing. I am referring not to rotting corpses with maggots gnawing away at eyeballs and flesh, nor anything similar, but the SMILES! Goddammit those smiles at the end REALLY put me off! Seriously, they were just disgusting! And the animators did that on purpose, as they definitely know how to draw a good smile. Example: Kayahara-sensei when she’s eating ramen…ah, so heavenly, that smile of hers! But no, not Miki’s or Megumi’s. I guess it was pretty important in showing us how bad the two are at smiling (though Megumi isn’t bad at all really).

Stratos 4 Advance: Episode 2

Stratos 4 Advance

Impressions:

The second episode of Stratos 4 Advance continues with excellent quality, and of course it has to be as it’s an OAV series. Although, it seems that the first episode was broadcast on TV first before being released on DVD, while the rest were released on DVD first, then broadcast on TV. But since the quality is at the expected of an OAV series, I’ll just assume it as that. By the way, I will write a summary of the entire series after finishing the rest of the series.

Innocent Venus: Episodes 5 & 6

Innocent Venus

Impressions:

Well I can say this series has become far more interesting than previously, though it has turned out to be one of the less popular shows of summer. Still, I am not writing summaries because I never did with this show and I’m not starting now. Please check Anime Nano or AnimeBlogger.net Antenna for summaries.

Episodes 5 and 6 reveals the answers to a lot of questions, and the latter has a helluva lot of thrilling action scenes. I must admit, the animators do know how to make a good giant mecha/military type shootout, though the bad thing was it was too dark. The night setting is always a good choice for increased exhilaration, but it just brings the overall enjoyment down when you can’t make out what’s going on. However, I always love situations where the ex-’whatever’ who betrayed the ‘whatevers’ comes back and engages combat with the ‘whatevers’. In this case, it is Jo and the Phantoms. It’s fun to see such an even match (*thinking of Gundam Seed*).

Now Playing ~ Only You (Bokura ga Ita)

Music

Anime: “Bokura ga Ita
First Opening Theme
Artist: Mi
Duration: 4 min 19 sec
Rating: A (8.5/10)

Change of songs - now it’s ‘Only You’ (Kimi Dake wo) by Mi, from the Anime ‘Bokura ga Ita’. I don’t like the Anime, but the music is pretty good. For those who have never seen Bokura ga Ita or Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu, I’m telling you right now that the aboe picture is NOT of Bokura ga Ita - it is of Suzumiya Haruhi, Yuki and Mikuru (of course, who wouldn’t know that?) I know I said last time I’d make this a weekly rotation, but I’ve decided to change it to half-weekly. Remember, the player is in the sidebar!

Shakugan no Shana Wallpaper

Nothing much to say, except thanks to Kevin at http://snowflake.animeblogger.net for making the dark maroon/black background. And if you haven’t figured out the obvious, the wallpaper features ‘Shana’ from ‘Shakugan no Shana’. Don’t know what that is? Take a look at this ANN article. Enjoy! =)

NHK ni Youkoso: Episodes 9 & 10

NHK ni Youkoso

Impressions:

I’m glad the story is becoming far more interesting, especially as the animation is very inconsistent. It makes me wonder if the animators just slack through some episodes. While eps 9 and 10 were average in terms of character animation, I have seen a lot worse. Ah well, enough of me criticising that. I actually don’t have that big a problem with the animation, as the story has just become soo good! Dunno what really attracts me now, but I can definitely say I enjoy this series like 10× more than when I first watched it. It’s become more enjoyable as the story focuses more on Satou’s problems – not only his hikikomori part, but his love life as well. Other people are getting more involved as well, including Yamazaki, and we get an insight into his past. We all have to admit, Yamazaki isn’t the greatest socialiser either, and from these eps we find out why. Or at least part of the reason.
