NHK ni Youkoso: Episode 6

Episode 6: Welcome to the Classroom
Impressions:
Things are getting much more interesting now as the plot progresses. The primary idea that this show was meant to revolve around – Satou’s hikkikomori problem – has kinda been forgotten for a while, but now things are finally getting back on track. The character design was better than the last few episodes, as well as the overall quality (Satou doesn’t have as many wrinkles now!) It is interesting how the creation of the galge has some influence over what happens to Satou regarding his hikkikomori problem. This episode, there was not much of a connection between the two, but I can see how Satou might use the game to build his confidence and eventually be freed from being a hikkikomori. Of course, I hope Kashiwa gets involved with his recovery as well.

Impressions:
Oh no… the quality… it’s crap again. Why?! The story is getting really interesting now, so why?? Why did the quality drop so much? So much repetition was used that I couldn’t help but notice every time it happened. This was mostly used in the running scenes where the same frames are just repeated. This happens many other times as well, such as when Konoe is peeling that daikon, when she’s wriggling her body, the dream at the start etc. Too many shortcuts just ruins it. The best possible explanation for this is that the producers are saving up their budget for a grand, spectacular final four episodes! It better be…

Zero no Tsukaima 08: “Tabitha’s Secret”
Impressions:
Very, very good episode! Lots of romantic fun mixed in with some serious, interesting story development – a fantastic combination! Saito’s bath with Siesta was definitely the main highlight of the show, but there are other much more important things that happened. First there was the telling of Tabitha’s history as well as the lead-in to this dangerous task that she has been assigned. I loved how Tabitha was drawn before she became so reserved. I wish that she will return to that way soon, if at all. Also, this episode is when we get to hear her speak the most so far, and that is at the end when she is sleep talking. The other important thing is how Louise was drugged. It seems that potion lasts quite a while and will still be in effect next episode. I think that the love potion is meant to bring out someone’s true feelings and not create fake ones, which means that the only thing it did to Louise was make her more aware about her feelings toward Saito. It’s also good hw Montmorency and Guiche are getting more involved with the series, as so far they haven’t done much except for the first fight between Guiche and Saito. With that as well as Tabitha’s story, this show is turning out to be far more interesting than I had originally thought. It is also becoming more complex, which in my views is a good thing. I love it when things are complicated with a lot of history and such. It all makes the show more interesting, which in turn makes it more enjoyable. I don’t think there’s been a point where there has been too much information yet.

Impressions:
This show is very boring. Things get dragged on too long and the storyline is just plain dull. The quality has been degraded slightly as well. It would be good if something interesting happened soon, such as a kidnapping. However, as this series is meant to be about a boy and his new younger sister, I doubt anything too serious will happen. The manga’s meant to be better and funnier, but I simply cannot bring myself to read it. I just like Anime better than manga. (But in the case of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni where the last two arcs will not be animated, that’s different).

Impressions:
Excellent episode, I must say! This is a great improvement from the last. This has gotten me much more interested in the series now. Satou’s history with Kashiwa and their reunion was very interesting. It was shown in a pretty serious manner, which was good, unlike episode 4 where everything was just stupid. And yes, Satou has finally started work with Misaki. I actually had a feeling that Misaki might not be who she seems, as she gives the impression that she is a very devious, scheming person who had planned out Satou’s decisions and actions from the very beginning. Guess that didn’t happen though lol. But still, the story has finally gotten a move on. I also like how Satou will be continuing the game. I think both Kashiwa and the game will be vital factors in Satou’s recovery. Both Satou’s encounters with Kashiwa and the production of the game will provide more material for the episodes, loosening up the mood from the hikkimori part and making everything more interesting. I would also like to see the finished game. I just hope that the game won’t be used to make an episode like last time’s. The animation and character design has gotten better this time too, although Satou still has a few extra wrinkles. But seeing as he is a hikkimori addicted to the computer, that is understandable. And oh – who’s that girl in the preview! She’s drawn much hotter than Misaki or Kashiwa! Kekeke…

Impressions:
That episode was total bullshit. It was the worst chase/fight scene I’ve ever see, and I don’t mean the visuals. They were nice, all the guns blazing, explosions and destruction … BUT! Everything else was crap! Ah … it’s been a day since I watched the episode and I’m not quite sure what I’m angry about now, but I’ll try to remember. Let’s see … First of all, the few mecha elements thrown into the show: the shots of Mister holding Franca in one of the enemy planes, that was a joke! The same angle and shot type were used the whole time. Mister and Franca did not even move, and as if you can pilot, manoeuvre and shoot with one hand on the joystick! They could have at least made the scenes more dynamic. And before that, when Mister and Franca had hijacked the plane. Firstly, how’d they get that rope attached to the plane, and how did they climb up without getting noticed by the other planes, in a relatively short amount of time, while the aircraft was going at high speeds, with the wind in their faces, not to mention the height that even someone is not afraid of heights would cringe to see.
